Republicans Suggest Backlash Against Baseball If Soros Group Wins Bid To B
From Sludge - posting cause it's amusing to me the lengths these jerks will go to.

Despite the Washington Nationals' successful start to the season, to some Capitol Hill Republicans there is a dark cloud on the Nats' horizon: the potential that their newly adopted home team could be purchased by billionaire financier George Soros!

Soros has joined an ownership bid being led by entrepreneur Jonathan Ledecky that is angling to take over the Nats, who are currently owned by Major League Baseball.

ROLL CALL reports: Soros pumped more than $20 million in the last cycle into groups seeking to unseat President Bush and elect Democrats and relates that the very prospect that Soros could have a stake in the team is enough to irritate Congressional Republicans.

"I think Major League Baseball understands the stakes," said Government Reform Chairman Tom Davis (R), who recently convened high-profile steroid hearings.

2. Not a word about Murdoch buying Dodgers? RevMoon owning 1/2 the nation's
fishing industry and many media outlets?

Is Soros more of a danger to America than a CULT LEADER?

6. Murdoch No Longer Owns The Dodgers
But he still gets a lot money from MLB with his baseball contract.

MLB is loaded with right wingers...the Busch family in St. Louis, Coors in Colorado and Hicks in Texas. There's plenty of money from those groups to equal anything Soros donates. And that doesn't count the spoiled wingnut ballplayers like Curt Schilling.

5. Selig is a Democrat as well...
Luckily it's about money with him...not ideology.

I actually think the local Malek group ought to get the team...they have been promoting baseball here the longest...and the group includes people from the entire spectrum (Colin Powell, Franklin Raines etc)

7. I think they mean that they will lift the anti-trust protection
baseball has. Unlike other sports, baseball can control the franchises much easier. Who owns the teams, if they can move, where they can move ...

8. OMG, you have to pass a political purity test to buy a team?
What about Murdoch and his (former) Dodgers? I hate these scumbuckets. I am going to work overtime to send a few into early retirement here in Illinois. I hope you all do the same in your states. Remember, all Republicans ARE Tom DeLay, they all LOVE the war, they all tried to RAPE Social Security, etc. Don't let them do one thing in DC, then say something else when they're at home. Do the oppo research and nail them on their voting behavior. A good one is a chart showing their voting compared to DeLay. Always good for a laugh.
