Denver Post - Blames Liberals for 5th Amendment Ruling
David Harsanyi, the RW counterpart to Jim Spencer, wrote an article in this a.m.s Post, blaming the recent Kelo v. New London ruling on the "liberal wing" of the Court:

"Yet, by a 5-4 decision, the liberal wing of the Supreme Court ruled that government can essentially seize a person's property - and liberty - and hand it over to an entity that happens to generate more tax revenue."

1. Oddly
Conservatives are all for taking money from people and give it to the wealthy and call it tax cuts. Hell, Republicans can now drill for oil anywhere: just remove a house and drill away.

2. Well, when you look at the vote
They're the 5 who are usually on our side. The right wing whack jobs are the ones who voted against it.

The world is getting stranger by the day.

3. I don't know
I'm not sure it's that cut and dry - Sandra Day O'Conner who has been on our side occasionally voted against it and protested it the most vigorously.

5. But look who appointed them.
Only Breyer and Ginsburg were appointed by Dems. Souter, Kennedy and Stevens were appointed by Bush, Reagan and Ford, resp. And they list themselves as Republicans. So how is he getting off calling them "liberal?"

4. "liberal supreme court" is the latest RW misinformed talking point
I got involved in this one yesterday and had to do the research.
Fact: 2 of the Justices are Democrats, appointed by Clinton. The other seven are Republicans, a majority being appointed by Reagan.

6.  hy was the Bush v Gore ruling 5-4? I always heard that the
justices split the vote along party lines and there was 4 dems and 5 conservatives. But yes, only 2 of the justices were appointed by Clinton, the rest by Republicans. Can someone explain this to me?

7. We need to reframe this
"The liberals have agreed with Wal-Mart - that Wal-Mart can come in and destroy a community so they can offer low wages and cheap imported goods at a lower cost than local stores . . ."
