1. If it's so darn nice,
They should spend a little time there getting the same sorts of treatment.

He's praising the treatment of the prisoners at Gitmo.
Camp X-Ray has been closed since 2002.
Some of the terrorists have air-conditioning and semi-private showers. The place is just a paradise. For the terrorists.

"Did Hitler and Pol Pot provide Dental Care to his prisoners before he killed them?" OMFG!
"Did Hitler give his Jewish prisoners kosher meals before he killed them?"

10. So the Gitmo prisoners are getting dental care before we kill them?
Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 12:24 PM by rkc3
And they're getting kosher meals before we kill them?

Sounds like we could save some money here and just kill them before the meals and dental care.

We're not very good at being evil.

13. I love the "We're not as bad as Hitler" defense...
"Well Satan wouldn't treat his prisoners nearly as nicely as we do..."

3. Resort... right...
Resort prison my ass. A while back this story came about about a US soldier who posed as a prisoner at guantanamo in order to gain intelligence from other prisoners. However, some of the guards weren't notified and one day he was selected for a random beating. They beat him so bad that he now has a seizure disorder. I would post the link, but only two news sources even covered the story, and it was effectively buried.

7. Get your facts straight........
The drill took place in a prison isolation wing reserved for suspected Al Qaeda and Taliban detainees who were disruptive or had attacked MPs.

Baker said he put on the jumpsuit and squeezed under a prison bunk after being told by a lieutenant that he would be portraying an unruly detainee. He said he was assured that MPs conducting the "extraction drill" knew it was a training exercise and that Baker was an American soldier.

As he was being choked and beaten, Baker said, he screamed a code word, "red," and shouted: "I'm a U.S. soldier! I'm a U.S. soldier!" He said the beating continued until the jumpsuit was yanked down during the struggle, revealing his military uniform.

The lawsuit says of the extraction team: "Armed with the highly inflammatory, false, incendiary and misleading information that had been loaded into their psyches by their platoon leader, these perceptions and fears … became their operative reality, and they acted upon these fears, all to the detriment of Sean Baker."

6. The prisoners have not been charged.

Some, if not all of the prisoners, have been at Guantanamo since Winter 2001-2002 -- more than three years. That's three years without being charged with a crime. Three years of investigation and interrogation in custody is long enough to know what charges to bring against a person. The prisoners are accused of nothing in particular. Holding someone for three years against their will without charging them with a crime is a crime itself. Let's say it loud and clear: Charge them now or free them now.

9. Well, heck everyone knows that Bunning is senile. Really.
This isn't a joke. That anyone in Washington would believe anything this dude says is just plain crazy. McConnell and Bunning did something in November to pull out the election (Bunning was behind in all of the polls right up until election day) but the repugs were desperate to have this crack pot back among the fold. (Bunning doesn't lead but he can be counted on to obey McConnell with a dog-like devotion.)

The election last November had Bunning demanding extra security because Iraqi assassins were after him, he "debated" his opponent from a studio in Washington (scheduled for Lexington, KY - he just didn't show up) while one of his handlers fed him the answers, said his opponent "looked" like an Iraqi and called him "limp wrist," etc. Total and complete whack job that even makes Ronald Reagan look cogent the last years of his life.

Guess he has been beaned by one too many line drives back in his baseball days.
