Nancy Grace is theater people
I was reading the "Why do people hate Nancy Grace" thread and I really found it amusing that so many seemed to take her seriously.

TV news is all about ratings these days. Show trials are fun for the masses. (in the same sadistic sense the gladiators were fun to watch)

Oh look! This guy committed a big crime or so he's been accused. Why don't YOU decide viewer at home? Oh look we'll bring you cherry picked evidence and even though you only watch what you want and see what we bring you you can decide the guilt your self. We'll even have polls and hours and hours of commentary based entirely on hearsay and conjecture.

People don't have any business deciding the guilt or innocence of those on trial unless they are a judge & jury.

Grace and her ilk are brought on purely to keep the drama going. It's no fun to sit around saying "We don't have all the information and can't make a decision" But the masses LOVE wild accusations and conjecture.

All of this is like Survivor or other "real" TV, but the FOX/CNN/MSNBC edition.

None of these people can be taken seriously. It's like watching the TV version of the national inquirer. In other words - it's bull sh*t people.

Frankly it doesn't matter what Grace thinks. She isn't a juror or a judge - her opinion is no more important than anyone else who doesn't have a role in the court room. Frankly I think it's sick to sit around debating peoples guilt or innocence on TV. Very sick.

I don't pay any attention to it because it's all theater. Rove must be very, very happy about it all is all I can say.

1. Being A Hack Is Not An Excuse For Incompetence
Sorry, you're wrong. She's not an entertainer. She's not presented that way. You may be inferring that it's all infotainment, but the empty suits at network HQ don't believe people are clever enough to see that. She is presented as a subject matter expert with her own show. Her ratings are microscopic. Her credibility is now paper thin, but when they launched the show they touted her "experience and expertise".

You've misread this.

3. It's not just grace
It's all of these people on the networks. They ARE entertainment. Are they presented as entertainment? No - they are presented as being serious professionals. Does that mean they are not entertainment? No, it does not.

Most theater will introduce characters are being exactly what their serious roles are claimed to be. That doesn't at all mean they in fact are what they are presented to be.

Grace and the others on the networks serve no role other than to entertain the masses with theater news rather than real news.

6. SHE Doesn't Present Herself As An Entertainer
That makes it WORSE! She thinks she's the genuine article. She thinks she has cred. That makes the sense of loathing more deserved.

7. I don't even believe that
I think it's a TV role and she knows it. I suspect once she is off the air and in private she probably laughs that so many take her seriously as she drives off to the bank to deposit her check.

8. You Are MAKING MY POINT!
If she is playing a role, and is presenting herself as credible because of her "Distinguished" career as a prosecutor, that makes her even MORE deserving of the loathing. Being a fake is not an admirable trait. Why are you having such a hard time understanding that? She's a complete fake. She's a complete hack. She's a fraud. And people aren't supposed to be repelled by that?

4. I think the debate was about the character known as Nancy Grace
I think the sole defender of her was the only one that takes her seriously

5. She's nails on a chalkboard
I can't stand her. I think she's frumpy and about as indepth as a brick.

It took fifteen minutes of watching her show for me to come to this conclusion.

9. No, she's an asshole
She routinely withheld evidence from defense attorneys during her brilliant career as an asshole prosecutor. She should be in fucking jail.

10. She's a freak. She should be in a cage biting heads of chickens.
In a one-ring depression-era circus.

Yes, she's an entertainer. She's disgusting. But the real disgusting persons aren't her, but the persons who watch her.
