I wrote these- feel free to improve upon them!
1. Let the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the writing of the Founding Fathers be your ultimate guides and inspiration.
2. Don't make any single issue the be all and end all. Learn how and when to compromise.
3. Don't make promises you don't intend to keep or know you won't be able to keep. Mean what you say and say what you mean.
4. Don't break the law or imagine yourself to be above the law.
5. Embody the values you say you believe in.
6. Don't allow the country engage in war for any reason other than self-defense, and only when all other avenues have been exhausted.
7. Respect your constituents and listen to them. You work for them.
8. Do not steal or promote legislation which facilitates the unequal distribution of wealth.
9. Be forthright and genuine in your dealings with other politicians.
10. Use your position in such a way that you leave your community, state, and nation a better place for the people who live there than when you entered political life.
