Neat Florida hurricane facts I saw today.

Interesting book about what kind of trees and plants to put in the yard in a hurricane prone place. It had some facts about the number of hurricanes.

1920-1940 - 6 cat 3-5 hurricanes
1940-1960 - 6 cat 3-5 hurricanes
1960-2004 - 2 cat 3-5 hurricanes
2004 - 4 cat 3-5 hurricanes

Sure hope we don't break anymore records. I've had enough!

4. Last year, on two separate occasions, we lost power for over a week

at a time. Not a pleasant time. I don't care for hurricanes. Plus our insurance deductible went up to 25% for all hurricane damage this year. If our house is destroyed, we lose $50,000 to $85,000 just because of the deductible increase. Not looking forward to this year.

5. We lost power 2x for a total of 2 weeks. Phone was out for 3 weeks.

Had no idea how bad things were. Like living on an island.
