Miss America shuttled to CMT

Spurned by viewers and ditched by ABC television, America's oldest beauty pageant will be broadcast on a country music cable channel next year and organizers hope fans will start loving her again thanks to a reality-TV style make-over.

Cable channel CMT said on Monday it will rework the pageant to combine traditional elements with a behind-the-scenes look at contestants.

Other than Vanessa Williams, can anyone name a Miss America that went on to something other than a presenter at Car Shows?

CMT...LOL!! Well we should assume Miss New York, Miss Oregon, Miss New Jersey and any other blue state best not even bother showing (except for the free buffet). LOL

For years, that Pagent kept Atlantic City alive...but that was before "The Donald" and gambling.

7. A few years ago, I was in AC for this weekend

It was strange. Every few minutes, a heard of contestants would come strolling up the Boardwalk with their handlers or chaperones or whatever they are called these days. The girls are undeniably attractive, but even in a group, they weren't head-turners. If you sit in a casino long enough, a breathtaking woman will walk by with some guy in a shiny suit. Miss America just can't compete with that.

But - at the same time - it's a tradition and one that should probably survive in a small way.

The Kentucky Derby (triple crowd chase)
The World Series (and the All Star game)

The NBA was pretty much off the radar screen-but not the NCAA Tourney (I can remember when they switched to 64 teams)

The official channel of all things American like: Redneck Bigots, The Flag (both Union and Confederate), Pro War Anthems, and now... Miss America. How appropriate. :eys:

Do they even play Willie Nelson or the Dixie Chicks on that channel anymore??
