U.S. Military to Expand Prisons in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military said Monday it plans to expand its prisons across Iraq to hold as many as 16,000 detainees, as the relentless insurgency shows no sign of letup one year after the transfer of sovereignty to Iraqi authorities.

The plans were announced on a day three U.S. Army soldiers were killed — two pilots whose helicopter crashed north of Baghdad and a soldier who was shot in the capital. At least four Iraqis died in a car bomb attack in the capital.

The AH-64 crashed in Mishahda, 20 miles north of the capital, and witness Mohammed Naji told Associated Press Television News he saw two helicopters flying toward Mishahda when "a rocket hit one of them and destroyed it completely in the air."

Consistantly I've posted this happening for more than a year. American hero soldiers who have given their lives for their country have their deaths pushed into obscure paragraphs and obscure titled reports. I know there are many good Americans but our corporations and GOP Party are incarnations of Satan!

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A suicide car bomber killed an influential Shiite member of parliament and his son as they drove from their farm to the capital Tuesday, an attack likely to stoke ethnic tensions on the first anniversary of the transfer of sovereignty to the Iraqis.

The attack that killed Dhari Ali al-Fayadh, his son and two bodyguards was one of several around the country carried out by suicide bombers.

Another killed a U.S. soldier in Balad, 50 miles north of Baghdad. At least 1,742 members of the U.S. military have died since the war began in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

Associated Press recaps the list of the dead Iraqis and how they died over the last few days but does NOT mention the 6 new dead American heros who were killed yesterday, less than 24 hours.

PS. Associated Press press in this story, in paragraph 7, says the helicopter was shot down by "small-arms fire" but 12 hours ago Associated Press had eyewithesses say it was shot down by a rocket.

as the second post. AP has completely remove the mention of the new 6 dead American soldiers. The author of the story has changed also.
