The official White House transcript of the speech had the headline "Bush Announces Combat Operations Over" or something like that, and it was later scrubbed by the addition of "Major" before combat. I think the WH went so far as to demand historical web pages from the various networks so they could scrub their sites, too. I remember commenting on how re-writing history is going to be the one growth industry under the Bush economy.

It was big on DU when I first got here in late 2003.
