I've noticed that nearly all of the discussion here is about Iraq, and/or internal US politics. I keep posting articles from and about other ME countries, Africa and South America because I think the 06 and 08 elections will be very important. I know that the US has alot of internal issues to deal with, but I also believe that whoever the next president is, has to be the best foreign relations president the US has ever had.

I think that a big part of the problem in the US economy is the alienation of foreign governments and now that those governments have India and China as alternative trading partners (Per Capita Income and demand for products is rising faster in those countries than anywhere else on the planet) the US is suffering the effects of bad foreign policy. China, for instance, is just throwing around vast amounts of cash with no strings attached (like stances on abortion or millitary alleigances ). So, in addition to domestic issues I think it's vital that people understand what is going on in South America, in Asia, in Africa and in middle east countries etc.

Just my .02 - hope this didn't come off as at all preachy.

P.S. The new US Ambasador to Canada had only been in the country once before becoming ambassador - 20 years ago, passing through on his way to a military training exercise.
