Jeb Bush's Surprise Move (Newsweek)
July 4 issue - Jeb Bush's request (that a state attorney investigate alleged discrepancies in Michael Schiavo's statements about how long he took to call 911 after Terri's collapse) startled even his closest confidants.…

(snip)

Ill-advised or not, Bush's maneuver only fueled speculation about a possible presidential run in 2008. Given a GOP field that lacks a standout contender, Bush "would automatically be the one to beat" were he to enter, says Mac Stipanovich, a former Bush campaign manager. He's a popular governor who has embarked on pathbreaking reforms in such areas as education and Medicaid, and presided over a robust Florida economy. And he's embraced by the GOP's conservative base. So is Bush planning a run? Though he has repeatedly denied it, "that decision remains to be made," says one of the confidants. Another, who declined to be named so as not to jeopardize his relationship with Bush, believes Bush will end up going for it. "I think the national party will call on him," says this adviser, "and it will be tough to resist."

2. I hope Jeb Runs
He's got some serious obstacles that could be exploited by enemies - plus there's the whole dynasty - how comfortable are Americans in having three presidents from one family (not even an extended family)?

3. The Terri Schiavo case got Jeb Bush elected and reelected...
...as governor of Florida, so it's only natural that he will use the case to win a bid for president. What a pig!

4. That's it Jeb, keep the Schiavo case in the public spotlight.....
keep using words like "starve to death" and "minimally conscious" then, after you read the coroner's report of a blind woman with less than 50% of her brain, go and review the poll numbers. Idiot.

11. Add to the fact he was prepared to use force to take Terry Schiavo
out of that hospice. He was ready to ignore the rule of law.

If that bastard runs, this case could keep him out of the WH. He was willing to invoke his will on a private family matter that had been adjudicated throughout the courts.

5. The country is poised for anti-Bush, anti-theocrat, anti-neocon
backlash. Jeb running would be a gift.

6. I think Bush fatigue has already set in
That Schiavo thing makes him out to be a total idiot who would fuck with someone's life just for political advantage. I'd definitely donate to put that ad on TV.

8. Let's Bring His Catholicism And Daughter's Drug Addiction Into The Open
So much of Kerry's Catholicism was made by KKKarl in 2004, I'm dying of anticipation to see how he buries the issue under a Jeb candidacy!
