I have to wonder, small plane and all.
Remember, it wasn't Sam Walton that created the Frankenstein's monster that is now WalMart. It was he board of directors and accountants and Harvard MBAs. WalMart of 30 years ago was a completely different critter -- it insisted on buying American wherever possible, not merely wherever profitable, and it was a boon to many communities. It targeted mid-size towns where it could compete with established businesses that had loyal customer bases and which offered services that WalMart could not. After Sam Walton passed on his empire, the company began the gutting of America, moving into smaller communities where they could wipe out the competition and become the only game in town, and purchasing their product from the cheapest possible source, be it China, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, whatever.
With Sam Walton as the model, it wouldn't surprise me if a Walton scion turned up having progressive leanings. I noticed that in one of the articles about John Walton it mentioned another interest (I forget what it was now; environmental?) that I would not expect of the typical corporokleptocracy. Perhaps he did have those leanings and made it necessary for him to get on that small aircraft.
