7. OMG what a hideous movie!
I saw it on TV once and I could barely make it to the end. Kurt Russel acting way macho was too disturbing. I HATED THAT MOVIE!!

I hope you were kidding with the recommendation :-)

14. No way. That movie is hilarious!
Oh well, that's humor. If you don't get it, there's no explaining it :-)

17. Well you're not supposed to watch it seriously.
It's in the "so bad it's good file."

22. A cult classic!
Kurt Russel was lampooning the "macho swaggering" in other movies like "The Thing", "Escape from NY", etc.

Lighten up! it was a fun movie ... even my kids recognize the humor in it :)

Another cheezy 80' movie I'd recommend, (that you'll probably hate) is "They Live", a sci-fi / conspiracy flick, starring Ronny Piper (yes, the pro wrestler), who discovers the brainwashed world is controlled by aliens, and features great lines such as "I am here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I just ran out of gum!"

Fun for the whole family. :)

28. I actually liked "They Live"
because the sunglasses idea was cool, and the alien mind control was interesting (signs telling people to obey, etc.)

I guess I watch mostly serious movies, so I don't always see the humor that others see - - but that Kurt Russell movie WAS hideous. I stand by that assessment.

32. Go into it with eyes open, and
realize that it's basically a high-production-value commercial for standard New Age nonsense.

Make your check payable to Ramtha, if you please.

BTW, they supposedly do have a movie in early production but it won't be out for 2-3 years.

11. Oh yeah, Space Jam!
Michael Jordan and Bugs. I once participated in an online "chat" with Bugs right after the movie was released. He said it was the best time of his life -- he was in love (with Lola) and had a movie with Michael.

Yeah I'm nuts -- but then, I'm not running the country.

I may go back to the video store and look for Big Trouble in Little China. I don't think my kids have seen, and they'd probably love it.

13. I got Michael Moore's The Awful Truth tv show dvds from Netflix today
so maybe we'll watch those.

I also got Vera Drake in the mail from Netflix today. That's another good option.

We won't be watching bush.

15. Duck Soup!
If you haven't seen this film, rent it. If you have seen it, watch it again!

Banned by Mussolini! What greater recommendation do we need?

And parts of it resonate with chilling relevance to the farce in Iraq. The whole ridiculous pomp of "Hail, Hail Freedonia" is a great send-up of the ill-planned rush to war, and "Whatever It Is, I'm against It" might as well be the GOP's entire platform.

Watch it. It's only 68 minutes, so you can watch it again!

I don't know if it's on tonight, but AMC's got it on circulation.

I know there's plenty of people out there who haven't seen it, you're missing something special.

And now for something completely different. Have you seen "House of Sand and Fog"?

Or was it election night -- it was a while ago. It was so fitting and believe it or not, one of the local TV stations played it.
