General: More reservists may be called for Iraq duty

Wednesday, September 24, 2003 Posted: 10:59 AM EDT (1459 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon may be forced within several weeks to alert a large number of additional National Guard and Reserve troops for duty in Iraq, a senior general said Wednesday.

Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said more reservists could be called upon if other countries do not soon pledge thousands more troops to form a third multinational division in Iraq.

"We need to be making decisions about alerting reservists over the next four to six weeks," he said. "I would think that by around the end of October or the beginning of November we should be alerting those forces that may need to be called up to relieve or be prepared to relieve (troops there now) if we don't have specificity by then on a third" multinational division.

1. Would Bush have joined the NG if he'd thought there were any chance
he'd have been deployed to Vietnam?

No chance in hell.

But he sure is sticking it to the Guard now.

Bush just doesn't get it. He's got to be the dumbest individual I have ever remotely experienced, and I've met my fair share of dumb individuals.

10. Bush* is not dumb and that thinking will sink us
He thrives on low expectations. If he were dumb every single thing he wanted would not be granted. He is very beatable but not by calling him dumb. Don't underestimate that man.

12. That, of course, presumes that Smirk is in charge.
A hypothesis which I find to be difficult to accept.

As one wag on DU said: "Blaming Bush* for the war is like blaming Mickey Mouse for the lines at Disney World"...or something like that.

4. One weekend a month my ass!
An associate of mine has been active since February and they are having a hard go of it financially. He also supports the Shrub, so he's off reapin' and sowin'.

7. Probably, although I haven't talked with him
He's the type that would go down with the ship rather than admit he was wrong.

the companies that they've worked for will send their jobs overseas. They'll come home to less than nothing.
