1. ABC just said that the applause was initiated

by a member of the president's advance team. At least the one after some point he made (I had to turn it off. He no longer bothers me like he did, but I still get irritated by him.)

2. One little clap in the middle

and an unenthusiastic applause at the end.

I'm sure the some * lacky in the front row started each round. The first one definitely started with 1 very clear individual clap.
