NYT "kinda hammers" Bush's speech.
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 04:31 AM by Freedomfried
Maybe the media has 'turned the corner"?

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/29/politics/29assess.html?th&emc=th

""The speech offered no new policies or course corrections, and for the most part was a restatement of the ideas and language that he has been employing for two and a half years to explain the war and assert that it is an integral part of a broader struggle to protect the United States from terrorism.

Using language that infuriates his opponents who say there is no link between the Iraq war and Al Qaeda, he specifically cast the battle in Iraq as part of the bigger conflict that began with the Sept. 11 attacks, which he mentioned explicitly five times and alluded to at others, and invoked the specter of Osama bin Laden.

"We fight today, because Iraq now carries the hope of freedom in a vital region of the world, and the rise of democracy will be the ultimate triumph over radicalism and terror," he said. "And we fight today because terrorists want to attack our country and kill our citizens, and Iraq is where they are making their stand."

It was, in essence, a repeat of a speech he delivered 13 months ago, when he assured the nation during an appearance at the Army War College that while the job of achieving stability in Iraq would be hard, he had a plan - and the United States had the will - to see it through."

If they did let the editor come here, let him speak out in public about this shit. And hear why he's doing such a poor job fighting the propaganda and actually reporting.

Or let him go to conservative underground and do the same thing there, they are just as pissed off. A lacking of KNOWLEDGEABLE americans means no real change can come easily.

2. What shrub really meant was.... the United States has the will to
continue to do what it has done in the past to piss off the entire world, ignore the fact that 15 of the hijackers and their ideology sprang from Saudi Arabia, pretend that previous administrations didn't hold up and support these extremists in an extreme fashion when it was convenient and profitable, and finally the U.S. has the will to put this band of criminals in D.C. in the pokey where they belong, where they have belonged for a long long time.

6. This is a heavy price to pay for someone wanting to make a big
splash in the world. Very expensive indeed. Dumbass thinks that if you kill enough people, hatred for your policy decisions, distrust of you ulterior motives, culture clash, rage created by your invading a sovereign nation, and on and on and on and on.... will simply melt away.

This guy STILL doesn't get it that he is dealing with an ideology... it is INTANGIBLE.

To quote Ronald Dumbsfeld, "I'm not sure if we are creating terrorists faster than we are killing them."

Well Ronald, you get the brainiac of the year award.... yup, you won it fair and square.

Morons.
