When is it going to get through those thick skulls in the White House that no amount of spin will change that?
For a damned good reason, we've merely grazed the surface of the Middle East over the years: Proxies, limited bombings, diplomacy and indirect action. Those were the ways we operated over the years.
There was NOTHING about 9-11 that justified Iraq. Most of us know that now. I knew it way back then.
There was a plan to counter the real terrorist threat in Afghanistan and Bush did his best to FUCK THAT UP. Not to mention the hugs and kisses for the leaders of the countries of those people that actually attacked us. And he calls this "Success". Pardon me while I barf.
The Gulf War was the exception, despite the fact that Pappy built a real coalition and successfully baited Hussein into an unecessary war. But even that war had limits. Thank the Goddess we didn't take Baghdad then. Too bad we have it now.
Back then, they recognized the fact that it would be a burdensome disaster to take custodianship of a fairly large, Middle Eastern country, like Iraq.
Someone must have read about what happened with the British Empire's experience in Iraq, decades earlier. Not a pretty story.
The Neo-cons and their sock puppet in the Oval Office must have missed out on that lesson. Today, many of them have left the scene. And from what we've witnessed last night, they've left Mr. Incompetent holding the bloody bag.

How come I get the feeling that most people are coyly looking away, checking their watches and mapping an efficient route to the nearest exit, whenever Junior starts mouthing off about how hard it is to do the job that he's stolen (twice) and how we all need to stay the course?
Now because of their blind arrogance, we're in a situation that does not bode for a happy ending.
