When this war collapses, as it will, it will make it just about impossible
for this country to save face in the Islamic world. And Israel, which backed the wrong horse, should see the light and opt for peace with its neighbors. Then we can have a truly peaceful Middle East and a peaceful world.

1. Peace? George didn't invent endless war, he just used it.
"And Israel, which backed the wrong horse, should see the light and opt for peace"

Did Israel back us or did we back Israel? Either way there will be no peace. We will fight a hundred wars with the 'other' in order to avoid coming to terms with the war within ourselves.

2. Israel will have peace?
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 08:30 AM by Jose Diablo
I don't think so. It will be the peace of a graveyard. If Israel had not been ruled by Sharon and Lukid for these past years, and a more moderate Israel had been in place, peace could have been possible. But then, if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.

As more and more Americans begin to see the Iraq war for what it is, a corporate wet dream of profit with our troops paying the price in blood, we can expect many Americans to see Israel, and its boosters, AIPAC as cheerleaders urging us into a bogus war.

Public opinion will drop for Israel and support for Israel will dissolve. When this happens, the Arab world will unite against Israel and burn her to the ground.

Whatever pro-western views that have existed in the middle-east, they will become history in a few short years as the rest of this ballgame plays out and the extreme anti-western Islamism takes the drivers seat taking the Islamic world back to the 10th century.

Edit: What I wonder is if they will turn the oil spigot off and take the rest of the world back with them.

4. That is exactly why I think the progressive people in Israel ( and there
are many) who need to drop these maniacs of the PNAC and make common cause with those in the Arab world who are fighting American Imperialism.
