Scotty already on the defensive about 9/11 links in speech...
<<SNIP>>

Spokesman Scott McClellan says Bush wasn't talking about any link between Baghdad and the hijackings, but he was saying those attacks "changed the equation," forcing America to "go on the offense" against terrorists.

The spokesman says in Iraq, America is fighting "the enemy abroad, so we don't have to fight them here at home."

1. and so the back-peddling begins
This is how it works.

The president makes lies to the American people on prime time, then the staff back peddles during the day when most Americans are at work away from their TVs.

2. Thats the same bullshit they spouted 35 years ago.
Better to fight them over there than over here.

I'm still looking for the barge in the Gulf of Mexico that will launch the drones with the WMD.

3. Okay, then where is the evidence that their pre-emption was
correct? You know, the "we know where they are" WMDs? And the links with al Qaeda?

What about Afghanistan? Wasn't it the Taliban that downed that helicopter yesterday? Why didn't we finish THAT job?

I'm beginning to think they don't WANT to 'capture or kill' bil Laden. That would knock down their boogeyman for the US. I also heard a recent interview with the President of Pakistan (PBS, IIRC) that capturing bin Laden would make it "very difficult" for him. He said people would NOT be happy campers and it would spawn a whole new generation of terrorists by doing so. So...are they really cooperating to find him? Does Bush really want to find him?

4. "Does Bush really want to find him?"
Considering bin Laden could have been caught in
Tora Bora a couple of times and his position is
known inside Pakistan, I'd say no.

It would be refreshing if a reporter just
came out and asked that question.

6. Our troops are sent out to be easy killls for terrorists.

America itself is an inviting target, so Bush puts out some troops that are even more inviting targets (close, vulnerable and without the political backlash), and considers it a victory when the terrorists choose the easier route.

7. That slogan belongs to the Afghanistan war, not the Iraq war.
Taking the terra-ist fight to Iraq has only succeeded in recruiting more terra-ists. We said from the beginning that he was only stirring up a hornet's nest. We were right.
