Clark: Interesting conversation with my grandparents neighbor today
So I stopped by my grandparents house around noon today to say hello. The neighbor was over helping them out with their yard and somehow the subject of politics came up. I asked the guy if he favored a particular party. He said the Democrats. I asked him who he voted for in 2000. He says Bush. I say, what? He says he hasn't voted for a Dem for President since Carter in 76. I say how are you a Dem then? He says, well, I vote a straight Democratic ticket except for President. I say why?

Answer: I liked Reagan.

So, I ask him what he thinks of Bush. He says Bush is the worst President he's ever seen. I ask him who he's going to vote for in 2004. He says, and I quote, "If the Dems nominate Clark I'm coming back for good."

1. I think there is a lot of that out there with older people.
Older people have a great respect for the military. Especially vets that are having their benefits cut. Clark would govern for the good of America. Nothing more, nothing less.

2. Heard the same
...a lot of people are concerned with national security. They like Clark. And some moderate Republicans at my work place are saying they can't believe how Bush betrayed them, and they're really excited about Clark b/c they bought into the whole "Dems not strong on defense" BS and they think Clark is the only one that can debunk that. - Now that's their point of view.

From Dem friends of mine, they like that Clark actually has a vision and is liberal on so many fronts. They also like the fact that he put his career on the line when fighting for intervention in humanitarian catastrophes like Rwanda.

3. Interesting.
Is this the definition of a 'Reagan Democrat'?

4. I think so
People who consider themselves Dems but couldn't bring themselves to vote for Mondale or Dukakis or Clinton.

5. These stories are getting more and more abundant
My Conservative Republican father, who hasn't voted for a Democrat Prez since JFK (and subsequently grew to regret that vote), shocked me the other day by telling me he's probably voting for Clark.

I still can't believe it.

Clark may very well be the uniter this country has been in dire need of for years.

6. I KNOW!!
My parents voted for Reagan but they really really like Clark (thankfully, they saw through the Bush I & Bush II BS).
