6. Sad to have to point out.....
Our military is not in a good situation and there is so much opposition back at home mostly by the neocons to get anything done, that we can't send them the things they desperately need. The attention they have to get in order to be safe.

Too bad for that but we're making progress now, I just wish John Kerry would throw up his hands like the vet he is and say "THATS IT DAMN IT, WE'RE DOING THE IRAQ PLAN NOW!" :banghead:

(*This man IS a real president....stolen election or not....)

8. Navy personnel reported killed in Falluja recently
Falluja is a long way from the water...

Victims list in assault in Fallujah grows by 4

The Associated Press

The Pentagon raised the death toll Monday in a suicide bomb attack last week in Fallujah to six U.S. service members and released the names of four more victims, all four assigned to a Camp Lejeune force.

Pfc. Veashna Muy, 20, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Cpl. Chad W. Powell, 22, of West Monroe, La. were among those killed Thursday when a car bomber struck their convoy. Both were assigned to the 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

Also killed were Marine Cpl. Ramona M. Valdez, 20, of New York and Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Regina R. Clark, 43, of Centralia, Wash., the military announced late Monday. Valdez was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force. Clark was deployed with the Naval Construction Region Detachment 30, stationed at Port Hueneme, Calif., but was temporarily assigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force

12. USMC doesn't have their own medical personnel.
Navy medical corpsmen are assigned to Marine units; I'd guess that's what a sailor was doing in Fallujah.

15. Well, since the Marines are specialised infantry troops...
and technically "naval personnel", then it makes sense, I guess, that Navy SP's/intelligence specialists/etc. are deployed with Marine units to fill the gaps in the TOE...still has to be a bit of a shock to some poor sucker who thought he'd be aboard a carrier or destroyer out in the Gulf away from the front lines, though.

3. Ouch.
Young people are starting to get very leery of all branches of the military if the navy is missing it's goals. I guess they see how the national guard and reserves are doing and decided they aren't taking any chances.

11. anyone interested in a naval career...listen up...submarines.....
subs are the best ride in the navy...hands down...best food, best people, best training...and best of all...you will not be pulled into gaurd duty in iraq...it's all volunteer and has specific job codes, especially after you have finished sub warfare qualifications.

17. Look at it rationally...
For a "boomer" crew member that is like three voyages.

How could they afford to train you up for only one or two voyages?

19. So would almost any veteran.
But that is the point. It is not only an illegal war, but a stupidly commanded one. And very few people are fooled.
