SHRUB IS A CHILD TORTURER - spread the new meme !!!!

Believe it...read this link:

<snip>

A Canadian, Omar Khadr, was 15 in 2002 when he was captured in Afghanistan and interned at Guantánamo. For two and a half years, he was allowed no contact with a lawyer or with his family.

Akhtar Muhammad, 17, told Amnesty that he was kept in solitary confinement in a shipping container for eight days in Afghanistan in January 2002.

A Pentagon investigation last year by Major General George Fay reported that in January 2004, a leashed but unmuzzled guard dog was allowed into a cell holding two children. The intention was for the dog to "'go nuts on the kids,' barking and scaring them."

Brigadier General Janis Karpinski, formerly in charge of Abu Ghraib, told Fay about visiting a weeping 11-year-old in the prison's notorious Cellblock 1B, which housed prisoners designated high risk. "He told me he was almost 12," Karpinski recalled, and that "he really wanted to see his mother, could he please call his mother."

3. I thought up a bumper sticker today:
"GODLY" MEN DON'T BLOW UP BABIES FOR OIL

but you made me think of another:

"GODLY" PRESIDENTS DON'T TORTURE CHILDREN

4. I like them both, thanks.
Tomorrow is going to be a long long day. I'm not looking forward to feeling even more horrified and revulsed by the government of the United States than I already am.

5. I know
The stress in this household is palpable.

Last night we took turns reading poetry rather than watch the nightly news. The kids made me leave the room when Shrub came on, because I started cussing like Lewis Black.

Tonight we had a bonfire and ate our first tomato out of the garden. I am trying to find peace when there seems to be none....

But the only two wage-earners in the house have been 'laid off' so we are so beyond stressed here that I really don't know how much more I can stand. I suspect I will be in tears tomorrow.

Had a good interview today so i am keeping my fingers crossed; but there isn't much to hope for in the news tomorrow....

Have a good night! I'm calling it a day :hi:

7. I truly hope your situation improves...
Much luck on your interview, and I hope you get some rest. It's extremely difficult to keep a positive attitude, with all of the many abuses being committed by Smirk and his thugs.

To think that our country has sunk to the level of imprisoning and torturing children is too much for me to comprehend. Unless we get these neocons voted out of office in 2006 and 2008, the rest of the world will view us as morally corrupt as the Pukes who are dragging the rest of us down the path to ruin.

13. Prayers, best wishes of good fortune to you and yours!
Indeed these are troubling times -- and you have to admit they ARE interesting :)

How fortunate you are to have a loving family. I haven't watched TV since the selection of 2000 and I don't miss it. Somehow, it keeps one disempowered, afraid and distracted. Even a lot of so called 'entertainment' is selling a 'reality' system that doesn't actually exist. This dissonance creates stress.

But of course everyone is different and has differing needs. The tomato from the garden sounds like the perfect analogy for where one should place one's attention. We need one another more than ever now -- and that need will only increase.

PEACE!

General Wesley Clark, WesPAC, has a petition to investigate the abuses. Please sign.

14. They changed the legal age to 16 from 18
in reference of taking prisoners. Yes we are torturing children. Anyone who is 16 17 is still a child in my eyes..... Shame on them. America weeps over the mistakes of this administration...
