Am I reading too much in to this? |
|
I was asked to take a "personality profile" for a job I was applying for today.
One of the questions was "Traditional family values play a large part in how I live my life" True or False.
Am I wrong in thinking that was a stealth way of asking "Are you a christian conservative?" It intially upset me when I read that, but I suppose I could be reading too much in to it?

If you put no on that question, it will definitely count against you.

No.
Sounds like an "Are you gay?" question disguised as a "getting to know you" section of the app. Weird. :wtf:
Was filling out that portion optional, like height and weight on some?

7. No it was not optional |
|
So you agree it does sound like a stealth question as well?
I'm tempted to file an EEOC complaint, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't reading too much in to it first.

8. Call the EEOC, definitely call them. |
|
They are not allowed to ask those kinds of questions.
They can't ask if you're married, if you have kids, anything like that.
Call the EEOC.

5. What kind of bullshit is that? |
|
i would ask them where exactly they got those questions and why they are asking them. Sounds like they have some litmus test they want you to pass.

9. It's probably some variation of a Jungian typology test. |
|
They're fairly standard for some jobs, and quite a few contain questions re loyalty, tradition, and so on.

I hate leaving a question blank, but sometimes you have to!

but it's my understanding that it's an illegal question to ask anything that might potentially or inadvertantly provide any information that they are not allowed to ask for directly.
Simply don't answer it.

"Traditional family values" is Mom stays home. That is how I read it. It is a question for women. and it is wrong. I would be mad too.
