U.S. Capitol Evacuation
Jun 29, 2005 8:10 pm US/EasternWashington, DC (AP) District of Columbia police were aware of a brief evacuation of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday evening, unlike the last time the U.S. Capitol was cleared because of a potential emergency.
The Capitol and the White House were briefly evacuated after a small plane ventured into restricted airspace. The all clear was give a few minutes later.
Following a similar alert last month, Mayor Anthony A. Williams complained that city officials were never told until after the fact. City and federal officials promised to increase their cooperation after that.
--------------------
last month the evacuation came on the heels of news stories about bush*'s numbers tanking. now we have another evacuation on the heels of news stories about how his speech fell short of expectations...(i.e. it tanked)
Since September 11, 2001 - when the bushies were in trouble either because poll numbers were circling the toilet or other stories shed a bad light on bush* - we were treated to various alert colors.
Are planes and evacuation of DC replacing the terra-lerts? It's kind of funny that we haven't had a terra-lert since just prior to November 2004 (s)election, but all of a sudden there are plane alert/evacuation two months in a row.
Meanwhile - did anyone tell bush* about the evacuation this time - or were they afraid to wake him up form his nap?
