It is a way for poor people to advance in life and I surely would not want to deprive them of that great opportunity. It is the most American thing I can do. Allowing the poor a chance to better themselves. Or as Delay said there were no empty slots left because all the minorities had filled them up. This is the best they can do to justify their cowardice. If only they had a role model besides some movie actor. Maybe someone who won the Medal of Honor like Bob Kerry oops he's a Democrat okay how about Senator Daniel Inouye oops he's a Democrat also. There must be someone think.........

1. I'm enlisting because it gives the future Dick Cheneys of the world
the chance to start a family. :silly:

3. I admire your conviction
I too will make this sacrifice. Oh wait, I'm a poor person too.

How about if I have "other priorities" like Dick Cheney or I just say 20 years from now that I "really missed out on something" like Newt Gingrich?

4. . . . have any prominent Republicans besides McCain served in wartime?
I am sure there must be some, actually. That's not entirely meant to be snide. I just, you know, can't think of any in the post-WW2 generations. So I guess that is a legit question.

5. Several of my RW 1st cousins likewise don't want the enlistment of their
progeny to deprive poor persons of those slots, so they will patriotically do all necessary to keep their precious ones out of harm's way. Moreover, their time not spent worrying about the lives and limbs of their progeny can be put to more productive use listening to Rush.
