Is there an age limit for delegates? 2008 will be the first time I cast a vote in a Presidential election and I would love nothing more than to go to the convention!

Thoughts?

There was an 18-year-old delegate last year. Good luck!

5. truth be told, I guess it could vary by state
But I doubt it. I imagine that if you're old enough to vote, you're old enough to be a delegate.

I wish you the best of luck. I'll be proud for you to represent Alabama Democrats at the 2008 convention!

6. i was a delegate in fla last yr..
in my election for delegate we had a young woman run..she did not get elected but she got to experience the system and it was a wonderful learning tool and a way to get involved!!..she also went to tallahassee to try to get chosen as a delegate at large..she did not get chosen , but i do not see it as anything but a wonderful learning tool for life..and an up front seat at democracy!! she was able to join in on the election process, and the delegate at large process at the captiol in the dem headquarters, and to be part of the whole process!!
i was new at it too, but i am on the other end of the age process!!

i encourage you , everyway possible to go for it!!

i never in my wildest dreams thought i could get elected , especially over life long politicans, but i did, and it was the greatest experience in my life!

now remember you must pledge a candidate before the primaries, so choose your candidate carefully! in fla i can tell you you must pledge in jan before primaries..and the candidates for delegate are only known after the primary.
then you must run a campaign and get the votes to be delegate..
you must put the time in to go and speak to dem clubs in your voting area, and go to dec meetings and get out the voters to vote for you!!

i made goodie bags with easter candy in them and had my flyers inside it with my picture and a small american flag..and had the bags tied with pretty red white and blue ribbons..i handed them out everywhere..it took time and a bit on $$ but you must put the effort in to get the votes and get known by the people in your area!!
the key is to make the people want you to represent them at the convention!!

and start saving your money now..it is expensive to go..each caucus you pretty much have to pay for ..at least any of the good ones!
emilys list lunch..$250.00!..no carb lunch ( starve lunch i called it) 150.00..nothing is free except your states welcome party..
hotel was approx $1,500.00 thats just a starter..all parties cost!!..alot!!

so if you are serious about it ..go for it..but plan ahead..start saving now!! and work on going to dem clubs now..get known..i love to encourage every american especially the youth of this country to get involved..
i will tell you this..you would never forget it..it is the thrill of a lifetime...you feel so proud to be part of such a wonderful part of our election process..and there is nothing in the world as exciting as sitting in that convention hall seeing all the people who make our country work..

and the breakfasts ..are ..well..wow!!

we had micheal moore come to our breakfast..and the following..jesse jackson, elizabeth edwards, howard dean, ben affleck, richard dryfus, max cleland, ohhh and so many more i can't even remember them all!!
i was in newspapers all over the world! was in nytimes and 2 other ny papers ..2 french newspapers, a paper from korea, japan germany, and of course the fla newspapers...

you get to have a voice for your democracy..and we need all the young people to get involved..you young keep our democracy working..
be an example for your friends..get involved and stay involved..as you are this country..everything being done today , will impact your life..have a say in it!!

good luck and i encourage you all the way!!

7. Good for you!
I'm 22 years old, and I just missed being old enough to vote in 2000 by a few months (although Gore won PA so it's all good) ;)

I'd love to be a delegate too...how fun would it be to go to convention?! I think that a lot of people believe that most "young people" are Republican because they surely seem the most - er, vocal. I think it'd be great to show the country there are many young Americans who are Democrat!
