Frederick Douglas on July 4 - the white people cut him off
This morning I was listening to the Tom Joyner Show on the radio in the Daytona Area. A guest speaker (by telephone) was reading a speech by Frederick Douglas made on July 4, 1841.

Basically, the gist of the speech was that July 4 was a great day for "them" and a black day for black Americans because the "Declaration of Independence" was a false promise. Therefore, the past was terrible disgrace, the present was a terrible disgrace, and the future wasn't looking too promising.

The feed was cut off by unknown parties as the speaker was about to engage in more editorials. The hosts of the show got a lot of mileage out the "white people did it." I was laughing so hard at this unedited reaction, I almost hit the car in front of me.

Just before the Frederick Douglas piece which didn't pull any punches, they had a call in on W's bullshit Iraq speech. The callers were articulate and highly outspoken on the wrongfulness of the war. I never heard anything like before in this radio market. Somebody got wind of it and pulled the plug.
