Without Howard Dean's EARLY Candidacy followed by Kucinich....we Dems
Would be in DEEP DOO DOO! If we had waited for the "Whore Media" the decrepit print press and the sleeping Sheeple........we would have maybe two or three very mild and meek candidates running for Dem President of the USA today.

We need to sit back and think about WHO were our CHAMPIONS! Who were the ones who got PRIVATE/GRASSROOT FUNDING and ATTACKED BUSH when our waffley, weasley Dem Leaders were sitting in the backrooms dolling out the favors they would get by being "Operatives to the BIG MONEY DEMS!.....while the Weasely DLC and by compliance DNC were putting out messages "Oh.....Trust Us...We have a Plan...Get Over Selection 2000...we must get this beyond us" ......Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich were putting their Necks out there waiting for "HATCHET MAN" ASSCROFT to GO AFTER THEM.....and make them "chicken dinners from the Deli Counter!"

Now.....we are supposed to JUMP ON the MILITARY CLARK BANDWAGON.......when the US Military is in TATTERS under BUSH/CHENEY/ASSCROT....PNAC's DIRECTION?

And they say that Democrats are WEAK ON DEFENSE! Most WARS the US has been invloved with have been under Dems in modern times in my memory. Woodrow Wilson (WWI), FDR (WWII, necessity),Truman, (Korea), Kennedy/Johnson (Viet Nam) and NOW we have Repugs calling us DEMS WEAK ON DEFENSE???

The Old Expression used to be: Democrats get us into Wars....and the Repuplicans Get Us Out!

So when those RW Fundies come after us......why do we "tuck tail" and run as if we are "weak on defense!"

1. Dean has done a lot already
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 07:43 PM by neuvocat
by making sure that the opposition continues to move in a more progressive direction.

However it stands to reason that most of the candidates would have a lot to contribute from now until election day. The field had barely started forming when Bush started going into panic mode.

He's done for.

Even if Dean doesn't take the nomination, we need him in this race as long as possible. Same for Kucinich.

5. Nope
You insinuate that Clark is "PNAC" - you fail to differentiate between an organziation to promote neoconservativism and neoconservativism itself - which he clearly isnt by anyone that has viewed his record on the issue of multilateralism and his criticism of the Bush push to war since the idea was permeated by the media a year and a half ago.

As for the weak on defence argument, it's not based on reality but the modern perception of it. With 9/11, this issue needs to be addressed even more and many feel that Clark helps to do that.

6. I agree with everything you say about Dean and Kucinich...
But you lose me completely when you start trashing Clark.

And if you want to be accurate, Clark was speaking out against the war before it started. Repeatedly. Daily. On CNN.

And Clark has nothing to do with the tatters created in the military by the Bushies. He was out of the military before Clinton even left office.

I give a lot of respect to Dean and Kucinich. Particularly Dean who has been a hell of a fighter. But you should try to give a little respect to Clark, who, if you read anything about him (like his book or Sidney Blumenthal's book) you'd realize there is a lot to respect about Clark, too.
