Oh my god, is this true about Dean? Oh my God!
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 09:18 PM by familydoctor
I found this about Dean on the internet, is it true?
I was so close to switching over to Dean, but now, I found this,
oh my God!

Thank god for the internet to find things out! I could have
been fooled into voting for Dean. Oh my God!

-- end sarcasm.

Please Note: The top five lines are sarcasm for those
of you who don't get it) -- this post is not about the content
of the article itself. Please read my text after the article
and comment on that for peet's sake.

Heres the excerpt:

Howard Dean’s Gimmick Campaign Strategy Increases His Chances

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exclusive commentary by CK Rairden

Sep 10, 2003

The Dean campaign gimmicks are working. He has vaulted into the favorite role in the race of the Democratic nine. His plan of dodging tough interviews and staying in front of the angry left crowds are gaining him exposure and money without requiring him to expose himself to difficult questions. It’s pure genius.

After taking an unmerciful beating from NBC’s “Meet The Press” commentator Tim Russert in late June, Dean realized his best bet was to “Dodge the Press.”

Here's the link: http://www.washingtondispatch.com/article_6580.shtml

I stumbled across this article, but I thought I would make a
point of it. There a million and a half crap articles about Dean,
Kerry, Kucinich, and the rest. Frankly, I don't see the Clark-supporters going out in droves and combing for every hack-job
they could possibly get their hands on just to smear
other candidates on DU. Nor do I see them re-posting the same
debunked lies over and over as well.

P.S. By the way, I don't mind Dean
but I am nowhere near switching to him.

1. Dean has been through many tough interviews.
You're just not seeing him as much since Clark has the spotlight.

but Kerry being Al From's choice, you may not like Kerry but he is more the all around liberal than Dean. I dont think he would be From's choice. He is Ted Kennedy choice and we know how DLC Teddy is ;) I dont think he has anything to do with him being from the same state.

28. I don't think Dean is Bush's choice
I think Bush and Rove pretend Dean is the one they want. I know whom I think they really want (out of the major contenders) but I am not going to say because I do not want to start a flame war.

7. Anyone giving props to Tim Russert has to be GOP media.
Tim Russert is a rightwing media whore!

By the way this response does not mean that I am a Dean supporter. I was just in another discussion about Clark the other day, comming to his defense against rightwing propaganda. If you can not recognize rightwing tactics to discredit Dem candidates, then you must be a politcal novice.I do appreciate your passion for the Dem cause, lets hope this type of passion is spreading like wildfire.

I believe that reading comprehension on DU must
be slipping.

The point is that the article is probably just a hack
job. Similar to what is being used left and right
against Clark.

Again, it's not about the article. It's about the hit
and run tactic of senselessly linking to outside sources
that have no merit.

It cheap and lame.

That's the point.

Who gives a shit what the article is about. Who gives a
shit what Counterpunch has to say. Who gives a shit
what Rush Limbaugh has to Say.

There needs to be more argument and debate from our own
brains and reasoning. That is what I am trying to allude
to.

I am exhausted, it's like talking to a thick, dense brick
wall around here.

You are doing precisely that with this thread. I don't think sarcasm is the right word for your post. Hypocrite is more like it.

10. I think that was the point
The point of the post was not to discredit Dean. You don't have to believe me. Go read the sarcasm tag again. The point is more that RW talking points have been dragged up here regarding Clark ad nauseum. Fact is, if I recall correctly, after "everyone" agreed that Dean did terribly on MTP it turned out that the exposure did him much more good than harm. I think that's great. I think it's wonderful that the "conventional wisdom" is being defeated over and over. But there does seem to be a concerted effort by some to torpedo Clark's candidacy and the right and left are as one on that. It's not going to work, however.

acting like clark supporters and logging on DU. So as to make him and his true supporters look like a bunch of loud mouth, arrogant Jackass's. Sorry but it won't work with me, Wes Clark would not engage in or condone this kind of support! Go Clark, Go Dean who cares which one it is in "04", as long as it is not Bush.

Wouldn't hurt to repeat lines, it's easy.

This is becoming a jaded shootingmatcharguementdebate, and you have proven that it takes A LOT, I say A LOT of whatever we can find to cut through the jungle.

Anything, my kingdom for civil discourse. Let's leave the straight-jacketed ideology bashing to talk tv where it pays well. It don't pay here.

Says he, after going out to find a hack-job article to smear another candidate on DU... :eyes:

Not to mention the fact that the Clark supporters were ALL for this sort of thing not so long ago... In fact I believe I even saw the same article a while back...

Nor do I see them re-posting the same
debunked lies over and over as well.

I may be wrong, but I believe that WAS a repost...

In fact, all the same things I am seeing now from Clark supporters, I saw first from Dean supporters. After all, Dean was being attacked like this LONG before Clark got in the race.

I personally don't prefer Dean, but he does come out near the top of my ranking system. Kucinich and Edwards top that particular list in my opinion, with Sharpton and Mosely Braun in very close proximity.

As for Kerry and Clark, well they are near the bottom with Lieberman, who I struggle to even consider a Dem.

But, my opinion doesn't count, because I don't get to vote for them. So all I can hope to do is convince people that they need to vote for people who are LEAST likely to get the US involved in foreign wars, after all, being foreign, I stand a chance of being "Iraqed".

Although I am a SCREAMING liberal, to a degree I don't care that much about US domestic issues (except in the most academic of ways) because they don't affect me. What I care about is US foreign policy, and personally, I don't care if the US builds multilateral partnerships before invading countries, I prefer that it keep it's troops at home and find another way to solve problems.

To me, Kerry and Dean, and probably Lieberman, are least likely to do that, and thus they are pushed way to the bottom.

30. Clark and Dean supporters are in this together
I appreciate your sense of humor, and know you realize that Clark will be put through the same idiotic analyis from the "liberal" media that Dean has been put through. I will support Clark, Kerry, et al, when attacked by these biased media sources because one of these men will become our nominee. I am supporting Dean for nominee, but if Clark or Kerry happens to get it I will be behind them 100%.
