who say Wes Clark probably "wacked" Bob Marley...

If that's the level of discourse I might as well just read a book.....

9. This is too funny. I thought this exact
same thing five minutes ago while reading one of the numerous "my candidate can beat up your candidate" threads.

10. Because conflict is inherent in human nature.
Society consists of many smaller subgroups, each of which has its own beliefs, its own leaders, its own codes of conduct, and the nature of humans as fiercely territorial primates is to engage in conflict with members of other groups. It's hard-wired into our behaviour. DU is merely a microcosm of the larger society as a whole, or at least a portion of it, and fully reflects this inherent conflict and combativeness: arguments, aspersions, insults, based upon ideology and some idea of group coherence between different camps (supporters of differing candidates, people with differing opinions on the question of Israel, centrists vs. liberals vs. radicals, atheists and agnostics vs. the religious, und so weiter).

All of it, for the most part, based upon emotional response and one's acceptance of the value-set of a particular subgroup than any kind of reasoned and logical process. We'll never "all get along" without some sort of tremendous leap in the evolution of the human brain's social wiring, I'm afraid.

11. Because asking questions and getting answers is 'bashing'
One reason that leaps to mind.

12. I think we can all get along.
As long as we don't get all bent out of shape when someone criticizes our candidate, whoever it is.

16. You can't be for real!
If your case is prudent than I guess there's no reason to oppose Bush! I think that you may want to rethink that position.

17. Because people post some real nasty stuff
about my man Clark which isn't true, and that incites me to say bad things about their candidates. I try not to punch, but I can't help counterpunching (no pun intended).

It's no good.
