19. Did you actually watch the debate?

I'm not a Green, had never heard Camejo speak before, and knew nothing about him. However, I watched the entire debate (minus a couple minutes dealing with a small) and felt that Camejo won. I have a feeling that a lot of other folks feel the same way. That's not 'freeping', that's being honest.

I felt that McClintock placed 2nd, even though I disagree with just about everything that comes out of his mouth. That's being honest too.

11. That's great for the Greens, but bad news for the Dems...

Although Davis is getting 6% even though he wasn't there... that could be added to the Dem column, I suppose?

16. Green voters are very strategic. If 43% liked Camejo or Bustamante most
I'd say that the Dems are doing OK.

15. I thought Camejo won the debate
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 11:23 PM by eablair3
like the article said, he stayed above the fray, made his points, backed them up with a lot of substance.

If you like sound bites like "I have a role for you in Terminator 4" or "your personal taxes have a loophole so large I could drive my Hummer through it" or "that's how you treat women" == then you might like Ahnold or Arianna. Arnold didn't say much about what he was going to do to fix what he thinks is wrong, he was just gloom and doom with no substantive ideas to correct what he thinks is wrong. For instance, Arnold said "I will cut worker's comp ins rates in half" --- but he never said how. Will he regulate rates? Further regulate and reduce the compensation to injured workers? He said nothing.

Unfortunately, I thought Cruz was not impressive. He kept getting ripped and allowing himself to get talked over while saying "yeah, Arnold, yeah Arnold, yeah Arnold" and "yeah Arianna, yeah Arianna" etc. I was disappointed with Cruz' letting himself get walked over.

The substance definitely belonged to, in order -- Camejo, McClintock and then trailing by a ways was Cruz, with Arianna and Ahnold at the end.

The Greens are real strong in Calif. The Greens got more votes in the last SF Mayor election than the Repubs. There are approx a couple hundred elected Greens at the local level in Calif.

20. In that sense, Arianna may have done a good job
She was the counterpoint to AHH-nold. It may not have influenced a lot of voters but Arianna is there reminding people what AHH-nold's candidacy means.

22. me too!
he was so refreshingly clear and in command of his positions. i'm not in california. but if i was, he would be my choice. he's so right about the greens making progress. what a gentleman.

arnold is nothing but a glad handing joke. he'll be the pawn of the party to go around the state to help get R's elected. like the party really cares about him besides using him for its own gain? not! he's their court jester and attention getter. it's embarrassing. his wife should tell him.
