Levi's is eliminating its last american plants. As overpriced as they are don't tell me its a question of margins. Bastards.

1. The last pair of levis I bought the zipper broke the third time
Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 10:15 AM by AP
I wore them. That's cheap crap! I've never had a zipper break before on any pair of pants.

6. It broke in the wash. The third time I washed them.
Perhaps I should blame XYZ or whomever made the zipper. The teeth fell out. But I'm going to guess Levis was cutting costs and buying cheaper zippers.

14. most zippers are crap...
I have so many skirts and pants made with shitty zippers waiting to be fixed. And no, it's not because they're too tight!

3. Yes it's true
The jeans that were born of the California gold rush are leaving 'Merica. I will be breaking a 50 year loyalty to the brand. Thanks for the memories, now go to hell corporate swine.

4. Most of them already say "Hecho en Mexico"
I bought a few pairs of the boot cut Levis for work a few years back and I noticed the espanol on the label inside the jeans. I guess that's all part of NAFTA, but aren't they going to be sorry if President Kucinich does away with that?

7. Levi's
Dont buy them anymore, they are not the jeans they used to be.
What is sad is the lose of those jobs. Same thing happened to me when I worked at the Kellogg Co. they sent the work to Mexico and I got the shaft. We need a Regime change in the US.

9. I heard the Kellogg's CEO lobbying for Bush on NPR before the election
He claimed that safety regulations were making it hard for Kellogs to make a profit from selling their products overseas.

This was during a great economy. I just read that Kelloggs made a huge profit...in this crappy economy. Thanks Bush.

So, keep that in mind when you buy Kellogg's products. They're making money because they don't have as stringent FDA regulations on the products the sell overseas.

Are those glass shards on thos frosted flakes? Yes, and glass shards -- THEYRRRRRE GRRRREAT!

8. Levis' And Wrangler Are Junk
Thin and of poor quality.

I switched to Carhartt. I work outside at a somewhat physical job and I don't need to wear an overpriced something that will split after wearing them a few times. They lost my business several years ago.

12. I stopped wearing them in the early 90's
when I became aware of the way the burned the workers and citizens in San Antonio with their pull out there so they could get even cheaper labor in Mexico.

furreners to do our work for us! Isn't that the whole point of 'free' trade? To keep our prices low low low so the masses of unemployed can still buy shit?

16. Are Lee Jeans still U.S.-made and union-made?
I bought about three pairs of Lee jeans a decade or so ago, and they had the union label in them. I think the last pair I bought (within the last year) was U.S.-made but possibly not union made. Any word on this?

Unfortunately, a good many jeans are manufactured in the developing word, and there are also sweatshops in the U.S. and in U.S. territories (such as Tom DeLay's favoriate, the Marianas). Are there any nice, humane Canadian manufacturers and U.S. manufacturers we can patronize?
