Not to be a fear monger or anything but:

If this is a planned attack, what are the chances that they have the
same planned for New York or DC?

Oh yeah, we are safer, aren't we?????

1. You have to believe unless they can protect the mass transit systems
they will go slow

2. It seems to me that this is
retaliation for the DSM.

Or for London getting the Olympics when Paris really wanted it.

Sorry, but the asshole is in Scotland and who knows what specialties are included in his entourage.

10. London just got that yesterday
It seems like a planned attack and I don't know if they could do that in one day.

11. Could have been set up not to happen
if Paris got it. Bombs are said to be like the Madrid ones, triggered by cellphone, not proximity.

14. It was coordinated with the G8 opening in Scotland
Difficult to know who did it, but the timing was perfect. Bush and Blair were having breakfast together when the explosions occured.

4. According to theory, terrorism depends on the element of surprise.
I don't think that today will be an eventful one for New York or any other metropolis area.

5. Bush's G8 presentation was written without regard to fiscal
...issues. Instead the bombing scheme provides a context for another terra, terra, terra speech from the faux leader of our bankrupt regime.

Otherwise, other G8 powers would be oriented totally on American fiscal irresponsibility.

6. These are considered soft targets which is why it was so easy
This could easily happen anywhere in the US. Malls on a weekend, grocery stores, etc. With enough of them it would frighten people here in the US enough to stay home.

7. Either way
it will be another excuse for further centralization and consolidation of power, both in Britain and here.

8. It is now 7:45am EST
Rush hour is underway on the east coast. We will see. My guess is, nothing will happen here.

12. On Air America this morning...
There was a CIA guy who basically said look, if we don't get outof Iraq soon, this is gonna happen here in the US.

Guess this puts a hole in the "we fight them there so we don't have to here" theory. It isn't like al-Qaeda is two guys - and it isn't like they haven't had recruitment up 20% since we invaded.

Such a shame. London is suck a beautiful city, and I remember the tube is such an integral part of city life - so very tragic. I'm certainly thinking of the victim's families.

13. I am thinking they picked London because of the G-8 summit in the UK
the eyes of the world on on the UK and a large number of MI-5 are in Scotland rather than London, so they used this as the perfect opportunity
