Just curious

No link, this is all I have

"(Indonesia-Explosion)
There's also been an explosion outside a night club in Indonesia, killing two people.
The blast occurred in the town of Cirebon, 250 kilometres east of the capital, Jakarta.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately known, but Indonesia has been rocked by several bombings in recent years blamed on Islamic militants. (5)"

2. Well, they are kind of brown, so we won't give them as much time
as the tragedy in Britain. Both horrible. But only one gets coverage.

5. Well, pardon our ignorance
but we're not likely to know about things that aren't reported.

10. Pardon me... but

I might point out that 40+ killed IS a more important story than
two killed at a night club.

Also, a night club bombing (depending on the club) is NOT aimed at
"brown folks". It's aimed at tourists, white, brown, black, red, or
other.

12. We hear little news out of there
unless it's something of biblical proportions.

As has been stated before, there is little interest in actually helping the darker (as it were) regions of the world. Sure we had the big concert that is going to "end poverty in Africa" and all that but answer me this friend, if it were Europe that had been experiencing the aids epidemic instead of Africa, do you think it would've been handled differently thus far? As in a greater sense of urgency?

Answer: You betcha.

Police deny blast report in Indonesia's Cirebon
07 Jul 2005 10:40:49 GMT
Source: Reuters

JAKARTA, July 7 (Reuters) - Police denied a radio report on Thursday saying there had been an explosion near a discotheque in the Indonesian city of Cirebon in West Java.

A caller told a Jakarta-based radio station a blast had occured near a discotheque, damaged several cars and killed two people.

"There has been no blast in the entire Cirebon city. We have checked the whole area and nothing has happened," said Slamet, a duty policeman in the Cirebon city police.

Sergeant Haryadi Ubay, in the regency of Cirebon that surrounds the city, told Reuters no blast has occured in his district either.
