Poll question: Do you support Bush and his minions when you pay taxes?
I've asked this question in non-poll form and not-so-nasty format, but as I approach my departure to Canada, I feel better and better that my tax dollars will support schools, roads, and health care in my new home versus dead Iraqi women and children, and the build up to the next war.

Obviously, for a long time my personal answer has been #1.

1. Unfortunately Mandatory Taxes Aren't Like Voluntary Tithing.

4. True...however:
I'm not a very religious guy to say the very least, but whether or not support is voluntary seems to sound like "I vas just obeying ORDERS."

I mean no disrespect by this, and I realize the "voting with your feet" as I am doing is not an option everyone can practice. I do wonder what would happen if EVERY SINGLE PROGRESSIVE in the U.S. STOPPED paying all forms of tax it is physically possible to withold, what would happen?

Seeing as the Nazis see money like sex, it sounds like a variant of the "Lysistrata" option, and it just might work.

2. In support for my own answer: #1
In my own way, I try to act in a way that advances my progress off of the Wheel of Karma.

I personally feel that if I support the government with my taxes in any way shape or form, I am enabling their ability to commit crimes against humanity.

I realize this isn't very realistic, but it comes as close to an expression of faith as this ol' atheist can manage at this point of my life.

3. on the other hand...

..your taxes support alot of things that are beneficial and constructive. We just can't pick and choose where the money goes, unfortunately.

5. Here's an example: FAITH BASED stuff.
When the government pays religious organizations for public work, doesn't it free up their own capital for more evangelizing?

If we pay taxes, and any portion is used for evil, then it's like being a little pregnant, isn't it?
