DNC (Dean) statement on London Attacks
Dean Statement Condemning London Attacks
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement:

"I join all Americans today in offering my condolences to the victims of today's vicious terrorist attacks in London. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their friends and their families. We remain steadfast in our commitment to defeating those who threaten our freedom and values. At a time when world leaders were working together to help make our world a better place, these terrorists were plotting to disrupt that effort by killing and injuring innocent people. We will continue to stand with our allies around the world to defeat terrorism and protect our liberty and freedom."

1. Very well said, Dr. Dean.
As opposed to the huffing and puffing and spouting cliches from the mouth of the misleader.

5. Not picking on Dean, but terrorism can't be defeated.
The only way to end terrorism is through winning the hearts and minds of the people, and the Western allies have a long way to go to do so in Muslim countries. It's all but impossible.

6. Mad...you know Jesco?? OMFG!!
I saw that film a couple of years back and almost fell out of my skin. I live in western NC and we are quite rural, but OMFG! Jesco was on a whole 'nother plane of reality.

9. I know. But even the RAF training courses openly discuss the....
impossibilities of defeating terrorism, using the tactics the allies are using in Iraq. It's not a well-kept secret.

I wish ALL of our leaders, Republican and Democratic, would quit talking metaphors and expose Americans to the truth. The truth is that we won't ever leave Iraq a democratic, united country. It just ain't gonna happen.

Again, not picking on Dean. I'd like to hear Clark (with his military/political experience) chime in on a major station today.

11. Hit them with a big stick.
The hit 'em with a big stick strategy has worked so well. Even if it didn't exactly solve the problem it made everyone feel good. Is there anyone wouldn't want to play baseball bat with these animals.

14. Who cares what the Republicans think?
This is more Democratic caving in to let the Republicans lead on the issues and the Democrats follow. This strategy does not work. Where are we 4 years after 9/11? Not any better whatsoever by following this policy.

I hate to bust out the Coolio lyrics but Dean and DNC obviously don't get it:

C U When U Get There:
Coolio

Verse 1: Coolio
Now I've seen places and faces
and things you ain't never thought about thinking
if you ain't peek then you must be drinking
and smokin'
pretending not to locin' but you're brokin'
let me get you open
now little Timmy got his diploma and
little Jimmy got life
and Tamikra around the corner just took her first hit off the pipe
the other homie shot the other homie and ran away with his money
and when the other homies heard about it they thought it was funny
but who's the dummy
now you done lost the hustler
a down-ass brother got replaced by a buster
and though I got love for ya
I know I can't trust ya
coz my crew is rollin' home and your crew is rollin' dusta
and just because of that you act you don't like the brother no more
uh, I guess that's just the way it goes
I ain't tryina preach
I believe I can reach
but your mind ain't prepared
I C U when you get there
Chorus:
I'll see you when you get there
if you ever get there
see you when you get there
I'll see you when you get there
if you ever get there
see you when you get there
Verse 2: Lek Ratt (40 Thevz)
More temptation in faith
I guess we livin' for the day
I seen a man get swept off his feet
by a bullet and an AK
the situation so twisted everybody gettin lifted
I'm just tryin to take care of my kids and handle my business
coz it way too serious so you gotta pay close attention
so you don't get caught sittin' when they come and do all the gettin'
life is a big game so you gotta play it with a big horse
someone's gotta run a little faster coz we gotta lay the struggle
I'd be a fool to surrender when I know I can be a contender
and if everbody's a sinner then everybody can be a winner
no matter you rag collar deep down we all brothers
and regardless of the time somebody up there still love us
I'm a scuff and struggle y'all breathless and weak
I just strived my whole life to make it to the mountain peak
always keep reaching sure to grab on to something
I'll be there when you get there when you wit the sound bumpin'
Chorus:
I'll see you when you get there
see you when you get there
if you ever get there
if you ever get there
see you when you get there
I'll see you when you get there
see you when you get there
if you ever get there
if you ever get there
see you when you get there
Verse 3: PS (40 Thevz)
You need to loosen up
and live a little
and if you got kids let 'em know how ya feel
for your own sake give a little
oh, you don't want to hear that
you busy tryina stack
and keep them from the Jones's is taking advantage of your own
the realist homies got you but you known them longest
but some ain't missing a good thing until it's gone
could have built an empire if not for the jealousy that divides us
we prefer to keep our eyes shut to describe when
it's something wrong and we desire
so hold your head up high if your poor and righteous
I know time seems dry and problems seem endless
but in times of despair we gotta put ourselves together
and if you feel you're out the game then you need to get back in it
coz nothing worse than a quitter
you gotta face responsibility one day, my brother
so gather up your pity and turn it to ambition
and put your vehicle and drive and stop by my side
Chorus:
I'll see you when you get there
see you when you get there
if you ever get there
if you ever get there
see you when you get there
I'll see you when you get there
see you when you get there
if you ever get there
if you ever get there
see you when you get there
(Coolio)
As we walk down the road of our destiny
and the time comes to choose which shall it be
the wide and crooked, or the strait narrow,
we got one voice to give and one life to live
stand up for sumthin or lay down in your game
listen to the song that we sang
its up to u to make it be
I guess i'll see u when u c me
(chorus fade out)

I won't be seeing Dean until he sees me. If anyone of you do see Dean tell him to "Stand up for sumthin or lay down in your game".

Peace out homies.

17. We know what they think...
Lie, cheat, steal...repeat...

Right now we are playing their game, they are in charge and in control. So it is best not to give them ammunition to use against us. Play along for a bit and then smack them down or let them fall on their sword.

10. agree
Terrorism cannot be defeated. You can't fight "terror."

The only thing you can fight is the delusion that you are not responsible for the horrible despair and desperation terrorists must feel, such that they are willing to give up their humanity and their lives in order to tell people that something is wrong.

What's wrong is the way the USA has been dealing with the ME and other countries, acting as if we have some sort of prerogative to go there and take their oil and destroy their land.

13. Was about to say the same thing
Looks like the war will continue to go on forever with this being the "opposition" strategy.

I'm glad someone on this board gets it.

16. Actually
Terrorism can be defeated. Just do research to find the sociological reasons why it exists, what keeps it alive and have liberal Muslims push for change that would remove the societal support for terrorism. Long, hard process but it can be done.

18. But there will always be someone disgruntled
So it can't be defeated... It's like defeating illness. You can cure cancer, but there will be another illness.

You are right about how to handle it though!

20. True
But how can terrorism continue if people are better educated, healthy, have decent jobs, and proud of Islam when terrorist recruiters need people in dispair. It won't remove terrorism completely but at least it would fade away. Just look at the history of terrorism in Europe done by Europeans.
