I hate the way I feel.........
but I just can't help it. As soon as I read about the bombings in London, the first thing that came to my mind was whether it was another inside job. Rove and Plame are now a distant memory, the DSM memo will mean nothing now, and it will only embolden Bush and Blair to do more of the same. The first thing that should have crossed my mind was how horrible that people were killed, but sadly it wasn't.

1. Give it up!
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 11:45 AM by bertha katzenengel
Look at this thread from early this morning. Read the mod's comment -- it's dead-on.

This is exactly why I try to stay out of GD. This is the forum that the RWNBs point to when they say that DU is just one big clusterfuck of out of control conspiracy theorists.

Of course we can't control the first thing that crosses our minds, but we can control the second.

7. So Clinton was Impeached on conspiracy based in lunacy
And we can not even mention the odd coincidences that permeate the Bush Presidency? Legitimate or not the secrecy of this Administration and it legacy of power abuse makes connecting the dots more than a fringe pastime.

11. Plame is a conspiracy!
I agree that a bombing in London is very unlikely to be the work of any other than terrorists.

However, I still haven't come to grips with Iraq lies, Plame's outing and the Guckert/Gannon affair done by this WH's operatives. Is there a line where conspiracy talk becomes illegitimate you use, because I am confused.

18. Eh?
"This is the forum that the RWNBs point to when they say that DU is just one big clusterfuck of out of control conspiracy theorists."

This does not equal:

"And we can not even mention the odd coincidences that permeate the Bush Presidency? Legitimate or not the secrecy of this Administration and it legacy of power abuse makes connecting the dots more than a fringe pastime."

19. I never said you are a literalist. :-)
I'm sorry to have mischaracterized your words. I think we MUST respond to and discuss the political consequences of this and we MUST do it immediately.

The implication of your post was that anyone suggesting that the bushturds have some culpability in the London bombings is "an out of control conspiracy theorist." It is not much of a jump to extract the meaning that connecting the dots and considering such a notion is a "fringe pastime."

Furthermore, you did literally say we shouldn't mention such things, at least now.

Peace. We're on the same side.

10. True enough.
But this is the second thread I've seen relating London's horrors directly to the Bush administration. I've no doubt they are related -- but not in these ways (MIHOP or contrived or planned distractions for Bush).

when the next incident would happen. Now, it has.. and I feel the same way you do.

5. Sadly I had the same thouights
first off. But to say Rove, Plame and the DSM are now distant memories seems a bit extreme to me. Yes we are being distracted but these things still exist and I for one will not forget any of them.

All my sympathies to London.

6. desensitization to violence
It seems to be a common side effect these days. Given the background level death and violence in the world.

What strikes me is how desensitized we are to the weekly if not daily similar occurrences in Iraq.

I was up last night listening to breaking reports on the BBC world service, and the first thing I thought of was the madrid bombings.
They had some pretty horrific interviews with people describing the carnage.

Imagine if we in the west had similar coverage to these kinds of events, like the Iraqi workers who get caught in a bombing on the way to work.

14. I had the same thoughts immediately...
And sadly still do. I hardly consider myself one to buy into conspiracy theories, but the timing of these terrorist attacks - both this one and 9/11 - always seem to come at such "great" times for * and Blair.

I sincerely hope I am wrong.

15. You are not alone...
I did the same upon hearing the news. I find it a terrible thing that I can even entertain the thought that leaders of my own country could do such a thing -- but, because of their duplicity and power-mongering over the past five years, that is where they have taken us as a country -- to a place where the unimaginable becomes the imaginable.

And I hate them for it.

17. Much as I disagree with Blair
I think this is the very last thing he would've wanted. Also because the G8 summit was a chance for Blair to regain some of the respect he's lost, by fighting poverty, global warming etc. Sadly for him and the country his legacy looks pretty grim now.
