The London Subway bombings show Bush as the failure he really is.
I woke up to the news of the London tragedy this morning, and am utterly shocked. So I really have not had any time to research this, and have been reading LBN and GD for news on it. So please forgive me if I have the odd fact or two wrong for now, and have to shoot straight from the top of my head.

First, I need to say one thing and get it off my chest: Please stop the panicky "end of the world-the stock market is doomed-martial law is coming-OMG OMG OMG-we can never take public transportation again" posts. This is just the type of mentality that shrub and the rest of the neo-cons prey on. We can set an example by showing cooler heads, something which is obviously lacking in the Federal Government.

Now on to my take of today’s events:

We will find these people and bring them to justice, what ever it takes"

"I think about Iraq every day. EVERY SINGLE DAY. And I'm going to KEEP thinking about Iraq."
---the lying chimp

The attack in London, tragic as it is, is a direct result of Bush and Blair losing interest in pursuing al-Qaeda. They followed their own agenda when they went to Iraq, knowing full well that there was no connection between al-Qaeda and Iraq.

Bush and Blair both lost interest in Afghanistan, where the Taliban is now in resurgence. Both failed to take any action whatsoever against Saudi Arabia or Egypt which is where the 9/11 hijackers came from. They both forged an alliance with Pakistan, where Osama bin Laden is apparently being hid, and orchestrating present terrorist attacks.

Had we stayed in Afghanistan, spent the billions necessary to rebuild that war torn nation, and aggressively pursued Bin Laden and crew, much of what is a real terrorist threat could have been nipped in the bud.

Since 9-11, we have constantly been barraged, day in and day out, with nonstop mentions of "terrorism" and "terrorists" and "alert levels". Shrubs entire 2004 campaign was run as he stood on the backs of thousands of dead men, women, and children caused by his incompetent bungling, while he smugly lied to the world about how we are all safer today. How many freedoms have been given up in the name of fighting terrorism? How many hundreds of billions of dollars given to sleazy war profiteers like Halliburton? How many thousands of human lives lost as a result?

Believe me, I could go on for pages just about this, however, it would serve no real purpose but to tell everyone here what you already know. The point I am getting at, is that this administration appointed themselves as the worlds police force, and used that as their excuse to rob the treasury blind, and cause an illegal war in a different unrelated country to fulfill their own agenda of controlling OPEC.

They got what they asked for, handed to them on a silver platter by the conservative majority in the Senate and House, and by a handful of weak kneed Democrats that went along with them. Guess what. Today’s events prove beyond a shadow of doubt that this administration consists of complete and utter failures. It's what we do with that knowledge that will be the important thing.

I confess that in the first couple of days after September 11th, I thought we'd be better off with the tough-talking, senior guys running the government and couldn't quite imagine Al Gore being that tough. My God, how I have beat myself up for that in all the ensuing years that followed.

Anyway, just my two cents…

or in-on-it. This just never had to happen. When will the citizens of the world just unite to oust this motley crew of world leaders?

10. I'm with you on that.
The timing of this is just to perfect for bushco. Although, I'm not sure it will have all the same responses as they would hope. Blair looked shaken this morning, shrub was smirking. Lets hope this backfires.

you are right.

As soon as the people start to feel their own love and power, the ones insistent on maintaining the status quo drag out the terror and fear-mongering.

It happened in the 1960's and it is happening again. We had a similar feeling going on into the 2004 "election". The thugs didn't have to resort to a terror attack then because they could simply steal the vote.

35. Exactly what I think also.
If the Bees had succeeded to eradicate the other Bee in the past 3 years and a half instead of using (employing?) him to effectively justify their never ending national bank robberies, who would provide them new reasons to continue waging their criminal (and so profitable) war today?

Do they really think we all are as dumb as (or dumber than) they are?

4. Does this mean *we* can drop the "at least we haven't been attacked
since 9/11" bullshit? You know, since bush* insisted on making the American soldier deaths seem more insignificant he* and cheney claimed to get the percentage correct you had to include Iraqi's and coalition members in the count(and you better damn well NOT FORGET POLAND!). So if they* insist on a all-for-one, one-for-all to make their* mistakes look smaller then I guess WE have been attacked under their* "leadership".

Dumbasses, the entire lot of them.

41. welcome to DU, and you could be right
Like 9/11, this attack seems staged in order to create a certain result (in this case, continued support for the Bush/Blair war machine, deflection from current scandals, burying of the issues at the G8 summit). The timing is certainly suspicious.

This could backfire on Blair though (not sure about Bush -- depends on Americans waking up).

I think the resolve of the Brits after today's tragedy will prevent them from overreacting like we Americans did after 9/11 (understandably, but regretfully). I think they won't get behind Blair like Americans got behind Bush after 9/11. If we've learned anything as a people, it should be that a violent response to a terrorist act is as senseless as the terrorism itself.

The Brits are well educated and smart, and they've dealt with IRA terrorism for years (not to mention WWII bombings). I'm truly hopeful that they'll treat this like the terror scenes in the film "Brazil" (just continue enjoying their tea as the bombs go off) and look for a replacement for Bush's poodle.

12. Thank you, it just saddened me this morning to wake up...
...to the news, and to hear the screaming and sqwawking this morning even on AAR by the cons saying "don't blame bush on this." Some even went so far as to try to put the blame on Jimmy Carter.

I just had to write SOMETHING to vent the frustration...

13. "We're Fighting Them Abroad so We Don't Have To Fight 'Em At Home: YEAH RI
This throws a huge wrench into the argument that Bush always makes: "We're fighting them in Iraq so we won't have to fight them here at home." That's BOLOGNA. The London attacks (and I do feel for them by the way) prove that Al Queda terrorism is alive and well in other parts of the world.

Now we have 10,000 illegals pouring through our Mexican border because Bush won't secure our borders. His CAFTA/FTAA plan calls for open borders and open trade, but he KNOWS terrorists have been illegally infiltrating our country through our Southern borders. What a CROCK!! He's so tough on terrorism? Yeah RIGHT!

15. Great post! What do you think the nation is thinking right now?
Is it:

A) We must stand with our wonderful sainted leader, GW Bush, no matter who he wants to invade next, and thanks to him, it didn't happen here; (Bush poll #s go up.)

B) We have to defeat these terrorists, even if it means continuing to support the Iraq war, even though I think Bush is stupid for having started it; (Bush poll #s go up.)

C) Bush's WOT is a failure. No one is really safe. (Bush's poll #s go down.)

D) I don't care, I'm not listening, Al Kayda Who?

I'm afraid it will be A or B.

20. I'm more optimistic myself regarding that.
I'm thinking anyone with half a brain will see it is "C". That was evident in how the RW nuts flooded the local talk radio to do their version of damage control. All morning it has been "blame everyone but the one that fucked it all up" on the radio stations. They even had some nuts on AAR this morning doing that.

30 percent of the people in this country will side with the neo-cons no matter what. It is their comfort level and even with the absolute truth shoved in their face, will deny it. These are deeply, and religiously fanatic people that are used to believing what they are told by their leaders no matter what, and are being played by the neo-cons perfectly.

It's the other seventy percent we have to concentrate on. That starts at the grass roots level, and it begins with how information is distributed in our country.

I had a discussion about all this with my wife the other night. She reads the newspaper (local rag-the "San Diego Union") to get her news. She did not know anything about the DSM, Karl Rove, Valerie Plame, etc. It just does not get reported, or gets buried on page 19 under the ads for mattresses at Jeromes.

What she did know from reading the MSM papers was Michael Jackson, The runaway bride, and other non news stories. Once this starts to change we have it.

Bush is, by definition, a terrorist. He and his gang use scare tactics in the attempt to convince Americans that he's the only one who can save the USA. They're nothing but a bunch of lying thugs with one thing on their agenda, POWER.

It's sad that so many feeble minded Americans have bought into Bush's ideology. Bush targets those who don't want to take the time to think for themselves.

We VOTE these bastards out. BUT, this has been made impossible by BushCo** who has masterminded the ultimate silent coup by stealing the electoral process via unverifiable voting standards.

We The People MUST take back the right to free and fair elections. Its the only way to stop the Neocons as I don't see a massive, populist uprising to overthrow these bastards by force.

How the Chimp-faithful can actually believe the "fighting terrorists there, rather than here" load of crap is a study in blind gullibility.

To think that those groups who have an interest in taking down the U.S. can't be in two (or three, or four, or ???) places at the same time is just childish thinking.
