Terror Alert raised to Orange, "What do we do now?"
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 12:03 PM by pstans
Ok, the terror alert has been raised to Orange. So what does that mean we are supposed to do? Go buy some duct tape? Drive with both eyes open instead of with one hand on our cell phones?

Shouldn't we have raised the terror alert before the attacks happened? That would have made sense. Too bad we are drunk at the wheel.

39. Just cover your head.
If you don't have enough plastic and duct tape, it is recommended that you only cover your head.

17. Coordinate our clothing properly, I suggest a swath of red...
just in case the terror threat level goes up mid day and you have nothing that matches.

I personally doubt that there was any indication that would have predicated the raising of the terror threat level especially the fact that the terror threat level is United States specific and not British. Their terror threat level is shown by a graphic depicting a pint glass and as full as it is that's how high the threat level is that day.

IIRC, this is the drill: be scared, go shopping, be scared, be suspicious of "unusual" or "foreign" types, be scared, and believe everything the gov't says.

24. Oh well DUH!

If they had alerted BEFOREHAND, then the terrorists would know that we knew they were going to attack! This way, the seemingly "late" terror alert now comes as a surprise to them!

38. hasn't really been raised to orange
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 01:10 PM by amazona
The states are broke. Raising the terror alert to orange is not just a word, it means that states are required to spend more money securing potential targets. Therefore we don't get full-blown Orange Alerts any longer and haven't for some time.

Only the ground mass transit system has been put on orange level. They say specifically that the airlines and airports, for instance, will NOT be on orange.

However, there will be increased hiring and overtime of LEOs, security officers, etc. for ground mass transit such as subways.

Don't you find this to be a correct action or would you prefer for every "me too" kook who can construct a pipe bomb to jump on the bandwagon? There does need to be additional security for a time after such actions. There are too many suggestible people out there willing to do stupid things to call attention to themselves.
