I work in a landmark bldg in a big city and I take the underground train to work everyday. I feel like I might as well have a target on my chest.

Everytime this kind of thing happens I get scared witless.

I am so sick of being at the mercy of the W posse and the chaos they are making in the world ...what the hell? Can I start my own country?

and now there is talk about this london bombing giving bush a bump in the polls ....what the fuck is wrong with people?

Same way as linkage was made between the attacks of Sept 11, and terrorism in Israel.

We're being fed a message to take home from this event, rather than just being given the facts on the ground -- that's what's "freaking" me out.

Will London respond the way the US did -- by attacking some country, even though it is only marginally involved, and if so, which country -- Syria? Iran? Some other objective of the NeoCons?

I didn't even think about it until I read this. I guess it is odd...I go through several metal detectors every day, am surrounded by forty different kinds of cops, and some of the transit police were evidently carrying automatic rifles today...and nothing, not a peep from anyone.

I myself, last time there was a "restricted airspace" scare (and I happened to be outdoors), just looked up at the F-16s and wondered how the pilots felt after the tight turns I saw them making...then I went and ate my lunch. Jaded and desensitized...

Being afraid is no way to live. Chances are you'll be fine.

It's like when people ask be if it's safe to fly. I tell them that 9/11 was a safe day to fly. We had 4,500 planes in the air and we lost 4. That's more than we usually lose, but it's less than a tenth of 1%. 99.9+% are some pretty good odds.

It's easy to get freaked out about this stuff if you get sucked into the hype. Remember, the chances of anything happening to any individual person are really remote.

My freak-out of the day is Hurricane Dennis. My house was wiped out awhile back by a mere tropical storm. I don't know if I have ever fully recovered my nerve although my property was re-built some time ago. I meet people who still have stress from memories of Camille. Can't imagine what it would be like to be a victim of a disaster created by evil people on purpose.
