1. I do have to admit, the new Homeland Security director is much
better than Ridge!!! I heard him on CNN a while ago. He at lease looks and sounds like he knew what he was doing!

10. At least the new HS chief hasn't compromised Britain's homeland security
by outing an Al-Qaeda double agent who'd been "flipped."

3. I don't think anyone pays attention anymore
Plus, I'm not sure most people undertand what each color coding means.

4. Here's the deal:
Red=Terrorist Attack in Progress, everybody "shelter in place" with duct tape and saran wrap.

Orange=Possible attack at any time.

Yellow=Possible attack at any time.

Green=Possible attack at any time.

Blue=Possible attack at any time.

Note well that it hasn't gone down to green or blue ever, and never will.

9. its useful but has no business being discussed on tv
nonstop. Yes it makes sense to have threat levels where increased funding for a time period should be allocated to different areas. These things shouldnt be publicized, or it defeats the entire purpose. If someone is planning an attack and hears that the level is raised they can just wait a few weeks.

11. Exactly
I was listening to NPR today and they had announcements stressing that the beefed up security (bomb sniffing dogs, 2X police presence, cops with machine guns) was only on commuter railways and busses--again, only on commuter railways and busses.

Now terrorists (or even schoolkids on a lark) would have to be as dumb as * not to figure out that nearly anything but commuter railways and busses were pretty much fair game. :eyes:

13. "... just wait a few weeks"
How would the average person know, then? Some secret handshake and then they'd tell us what color we're on?

Do you think this color thing is anything more than another warm fuzzy provided to make us all feel like they're doing something?

12. Since each color has an alraming
word attached to it by way of explanation, why not just use the words?

Elevated ...
Slightyly more elevated ...
Causing concern ..
Causing nore concern ..
Unconfirmed ...
Believed to be...
