WHY WE HATE BUSH by Ted Rall
WHY WE HATE BUSH

It's the Stolen Election, Stupid
NEW YORK--"Have the Democrats totally flipped their lids?" asks David Brooks in The Weekly Standard, quasi-official organ of the Bush Administration. "Because every day some Democrat seems to make a manic or totally over-the-top statement about George Bush, the Republican party, and the state of the nation today."

True, Democrats loathe Dubya with greater intensity than any Republican standard-bearer in modern political history. Even the diabolical Richard Nixon--who, after all, created the EPA, went to China and imposed price controls to stop corporate gouging--rates higher in liberal eyes. "It's mystifying," writes Brooks.

Let me explain.

First but not foremost, Bush's detractors despise him viscerally, as a man. Where working-class populists see him as a smug, effeminate frat boy who wouldn't recognize a hard day's work if it kicked him in his self-satisfied ass, intellectuals see a simian-faced idiot unqualified to mow his own lawn, much less lead the free world. Another group, which includes me, is more patronizing than spiteful. I feel sorry for the dude; he looks so pathetic, so out of his depth, out there under the klieg lights, squinting, searching for nouns and verbs, looking like he's been snatched from his bed and beamed in, and is still half asleep, not sure where he is. Each speech looks as if Bush had been beamed from his bed fast asleep. And he's willfully ignorant. On Fox News, Bush admits that he doesn't even read the newspaper: "I glance at the headlines just to kind of a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves." All these takes on Bush boil down to the same thing: The guy who holds the launch codes isn't smart enough to know that's he's stupid. And that's scary.

3. Damn!
Rall does not mince words.

"Bush bashers hate Bush for his personal hypocrisy--the draft-dodger who went AWOL during Vietnam yet sent other young men to die in Afghanistan and Iraq, the philandering cocaine addict who dares to call gays immoral--as well as for his attacks on peace and prosperity."

(snip)

"Bush isn't president, but he plays one on TV. His presence in the White House is an affront to everything that this country stands for. His fake presidency is treasonous; our passive tolerance for it sad testimony to post-9/11 cowardice. As I wrote in December 2000, "George W. Bush is not the President of the United States of America." And millions of Americans agree."

He has the eye of a top editorial cartoonist combined with the ability to write his columns with scathing accuracy.

6. Good for Ted Rall
Like Michael Moore, Ted Rall is one of the patriotic Americans who wasn't afraid to tell the truth about Bush even when the media told us he was at 150% popularity.

17. Some folks here don't like Rall anymore.
He uncovered some unflattering truths in Vermont, wrote about them and his fanbase decreased rapidly here at DU.

10. Rall's too kind.
Feeling sorry for one so utterly incompetent that he's too incompetent to recognize his own incompetence is a waste of compassion.

Bush is where he is purely because of his incompetence, not in spite of it. He's counted upon to rely completly on his cadre of advisors, and guess who picks THEM out..

It's the same reason the well-known but utterly ignorant and out of his league Ah-Nuld is being pushed by the Rove Repuglicans. They know he'll be utterly lost and will have to rely on his "team." Guess where they will hail from!

11. David Brooks
It always amazes me that these right wing Bush* shills always forget about the on-going Clinton-hatred when they wonder about hatred toward Bush*. Even in thier most manic fantasies Clinton didn't do 10% of the harm Bush* is doing, yet they act as if the visceral hatred of Bush* is an entirely new phenomonom in Americal political life.

12. Sorry, I don't read Ted Rall
....since he penned that truly vicious comic strip about the widow of WSJ reporter Daniel Pearl. What a despicable, insensitive man.

14. Huh? I remember the WTC Widows/Widowers strip, which was rough, but...
...I must have missed the Pearl wife toon.

And I have to say even if it's crass that's not going to stop my reading of his articles or toons:-)

15. I did not "like" him before the election....
I grew to "HATE" him after the selection.

I'm ashamed of his obvious mental limitations..
I'm ashamed of his obvious limited vocabulary..
I'm ashamed of his bullying the world..
I'm resentful of his lack of compassion for suffering Americans
I'm resentful of his arrogance and swaggering..
I'm resentful of his poor judgement..
I'm REALLY resentful that he stole the election.

Yep.....I hate him!

16. I hated him since 88.
He actively worked against Dukakis using lies and distortions and smeared Dukakis' wife even.

People forget that Bush was a political strategist for his father and worked hand in hand with Atwater and Rove. He is IN on all the political dealings, even though many think he's just a puppet. He's not. He's a longtime dirty political trickster.

20. stealing the election!
the left is found of saying the supreme court stole the
election from the dems. considering how you view the
constitution, i'm not surprised. i ask do courts legislate? i
ask isnt there job to interpret the case as it applies to the
law? of course not! we need courts where legislators are too
stupid. after all, they write the law. thats why we need
courts. because after all - legislators just win popularity
contests. its high time we be governed by fiat anyway. i
mean who needs to hear their voice heard anyway. thank god
the democrats had the balls to make history by denying
reuplicans their judges. and god bless those pansy ass
republicans for not even holding to their principle. as you
can see, the 9th circuit tried to write law just the other
day, but damn it, in the end, they actually had to follow that
stupid law that their legislators actually wrote. oh well. so
much for democracy.
