Woodward on Fresh Air tonight re Miller.
Sounds like he's been drinking koolaid. I can fully understand that there are two divergent views on the freedom of the press issue here on DU. I am of the belief that they should not be protected due to the fact that they were not protecting a whistleblower but were covering up a crime.

Anyway, Woodward said that when the facts were out they would be "laughable" and that Plame had a desk job and it was no big deal, no crime.

Is he now in league with Miller et al? What happened to him?

1. Look at the book he wrote about Bush.
Nothing but a puff piece. Save your money and don't buy his Deep Throat book.

3. But wouldn't Fitzgerald have to make showing to judge that
Plame was covert. As Lawrence O'Donnell said today, would that be the first step in the case? Cause if Fitzgerald couldn't show that, why would the judge and the appellate court allow him to continue.

If Woodward is right, and there is absolutely no basis in fact to believe Plame was covert at the time/in past - I agree, the case makes a mockery out of our system.

I cannot believe a judge would allow Fitzgerald to pursue a case unless there was evidence that she was covert. Certainly, Fitzgerald convinced an appellate court that the judges testimony was vital. Too bad no reporter can ask the questions of Woodward to get his take on these concepts.

4. Her front company was shut down and up to 90 may have died
My observation has to do with NPR as well. Journalists should be asking the hard questions, digging for truth. Woodward is living off his reputation, not his current work which is shit.

He has become another apologist spreading propaganda and disinformation in my opinion.

The problem is that too many people hear these snippets and form erroneous opinions of what is going on. NPR becomes part of the spin machine, and not an objective source. There were no follow up questions to his drivel, no second opinion...only implicit acceptance that what he said was true.
