Is there any reason the terrorists would pick today because of past history?

I am finding that the Al-Quaeda connection is suspect, because didn't I read that Britain was going to be pulling their troops out of Iraq? Why would they hit them when they were leaving.
What about the Taliban? Since the British troops will be going to Afghanistan, seems to me the Taliban would be a more likely group to consider. But do we, as a nation, really want to admit that under our military occupation of Afghanistan, that the Taliban has risen to greater heights than they could ever achieve previously in regards to international terrorism?

2. What's so "suspect" about the Al-Qaeda connection, really?

You think there aren't terrorists in Aghanistan who want the US and UK gone? Remember, Afghanistan was the crucible in which most of the current terrorist leaders were forged. They're probably no more thrilled about the US/UK and coalition military presence than they were about the Soviets.

I'm honestly a bit perplexed as to WHY people assume that, because the UK is transferring its forces to Afghanistan, there must not be an Al-Qaeda connection...that's a leap that utterly defies logic.

flag in our faces so many times...Al Quaeda, be afraid, terror, et al.
Boogieman gonna get you....We have Bin Laden surrounded, we don't care about Bin Laden, etc...
Perhaps it's a little of the boy crying wolf and some of us just aren't buying it.
I supposed I am jaded. If they tell me it's Al Quaeda, I'm going to assume it's someone else. I don't trust any of them.:shrug:

The British Peel Commission recommends partition of Palestine into two states, one for the Arabs and one for the Jews. Ben-Gurion saw this recommendation as "being on a par with the Balfour Declaration, if not even more important For it is a declaration of a Jewish State in Eretz IsraeL After two thousand years of bondage, exile and dependency a mighty Government, which has authority over the land, offers us sovereignty in the Homeland, political independence in our country." Distressed by the plight of European Jewry, Ben-Gurion also saw in this proposal a chance to rally massive Aliya into Palestine for he realized that Eretz-Israel could be the only solution for the imperiled Jews of Europe.
