I was doing a little research because I see the Right Wing using this method to brainwash their viewers and listeners. So here's a snip of what I found:

1. Very Interesting. Been a Long Time Since Power of Suggestion

chats. Use to talk about this a lot eons ago. We use to experiment with this and it actually worked, every time.

Simple: Think of being in a movie theater, or elevator and 1 person begins to clear throat, or cough. Before long others do as well.

The Power of Suggestion has been 'round for a long-time. I think TV has a lot to do with it and those powers (to be - no) that are learned "it" a long time ago.

Google "turn off your tv" and watch how much comes up. Problem is, we're all afraid we'll miss something. If we loose the internet, we're literally doomed and that's the last worry.

I would look up in the sky for a while and then expect to see others doing the same. It works everytime.

Yawning. Ever tried that one. It's very catchy in a crowd. But you're mention of looking upwards reminds me of some pretty hysterical moments.
