8. Thanks! I've stocked up on batteries...
bottled water, canned food, and saltine crackers. "Expect the worst, hope for the best," that's my motto!

15. Hi, Glorfindel!
What part of south Mississippi? Are you on the coast?

I'm a south Mississippian, too. Welcome to DU! :toast:

5. Wow, that's a powerful looking storm!
The situation reminds me a lot of Charley from last year. I wonder if it will take a surprise eastward turn and cut across central Florida like Charley did.

If you live in the Southeast, surely you'll want to pay close attention. Here is the address for the National Hurricane Center's web site:

19. I'm sure you don't mean that
It doesn't really remind you of Charley, does it, weatherguy? Please say no. Cuz I'm sittin' right where Charley, Frances and Jeanne crossed paths in C-FL last year and we've had enough.

Tell us something nice, like you think Dennis is going to spin itself out in the GOM or the aliens are gonna' come and suck it up into their ship for research. Lie to me, baby!!

6. Frightening! There is still so much warm water
to add to the power of this storm. The L.A news is using words like major and potential 20 foot storm surges.

I also don't want some dumbass reporter to stand out there and say see how hard the wind is blowing. It may encourage people to stay when they should evacuate.

Be Safe!

23. I've got a personal preference for...
http://www.wunderground.com - It's much easier to navigate than most of the other weather sites.

Also http://www.stormcarib.com - They've got sections for posts from folks in the various islands, both before a storm and as soon afterward as they can post.

13. Best case scenario for gulf coast states...
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 10:42 PM by jim3775
It hits central Cuba weakens to a cat 1-2 and dissapates in Florida. Worst case, continues along the Cuban coast passing the central Cuban mountains goes back out into the gulf and intensifies.

Which one is going to happen?

14. It's wobbled to the west.
Your latter scenerio might not be correct. Even New Orleans residents need to be keeping a close eye. There's no guarantee where it will land until it gets in the gulf.
