John Aravosis on AmericaBlog has an incredible editorial
on today's events and the way the London people are handling it. I think what struck me most was what the policeman outside Buckingham Palace said...

"Perhaps the most surprising was a cop in front of Buckingham Palace who, when asked by my friend why he thought today happened, the cop responded: "Because some people just want to be free." Pretty interesting words from a cop guarding Buckingham Palace on the day the flag is at half mast for the second time in history (Lady Di's death being the first time).

It's amazing how the rest of the world undestands that there are consequences for attacking, occupying, killing and torturing people. I urge everyone to go to www.americablog.org and read the whole story. We could learn a lot from the people of London.

I needed. Some decent perspective from others besides my thinking about it all day.

Makes me want to go to London even more than I did yesterday.

3. Yes, but...

Before we get too glassy-eyed with reverence for that word "freedom," (and qualifying what I'm going to say with my utter opposition to invading any nation that has not attacked us) freedom doesn't mean the same to everybody. Some people just want to be free to persecute and torture others.

Why, they're not so different from us, after all.

...report, also posted today, about Bush's complete and utter failure to protect out borders is also spot-on.

6. I was up early this morning and caught his comments live
from the G8. It made me sick and extremely mad. He had the nerve to proclaim that "we" would bring "them" to justice and how impressed he was with the resolve of the other leaders were showing at the G8. Even implied that their resolve now matched his. What a prick.

His comments were his usual stumbling, blinking, incoherent, sneering, no cue card having bullshit. He makes me ashamed to be an Ameican.

7. Don't be ashamed to be American
Don't *ever* let George Bush shame you for being an American. George is a pretender. He's a Connecticut Yankee pretending to be a Texan and a corporate raiding assclown who pretends to be an American.

8. Let Me Rephrase That...
It shames me to have that asswipe representing America to the world.

I've been to London a couple of times and was really impressed with the people. Watching the news this morning then seeing that clown's little speech really started my day off badly. We are still a great country but really need to get it back on the right track.

9. I'd heard about it for the first time
...@ 7:30 AM driving to work. At the time, the radio deejays were saying two had perished. By the time I got home, my wife had informed me that the death toll had reached 37, with over 700 maimed/injured.

It was kind of disheartening to see Bush standing behind Blair like a sock puppet while Blair, while delivering his responses to the tragedy, must have obviously been wondering what was going through that addled head of his when he listened to this imperious little twit who's charitably referred to as the Leader of the Free World.
