Before he lost his seat to a Hispanic female Democrat in 1996, he was the U.S. Representative from Orange County, California. Before he went to talk radio host land, he was by far the top Right wing lunatic in Congress.

It's amazing even for Orange County, how any district could elect someone who is nothing more than a red-baiting homo-hating warmonger to represent them (having a disproportionate number of Catholics, military bases, and wealthy suburbs helps), but it is still amazing nonetheless.

I spent many years trying to figure this loony tune out and finally came to the conclusion that he spends a majority of his time three sheets to the wind. I think his final doing in was calling fellow congressman Rep. Steve Gunderson a queer during session, and was probably the impetus for finally falling out of grace with his constituents and losing the next election.
