Blair's G8 Closing Speech: It really, really looked like he was wired.

Did anyone else catch this speech? I know that Blair is a masterful speaker, even off the cuff, but he was using the same pauses Bush does and looking down and to his right during the pauses. Sometimes the phrasing looked exactly like he was adding a phrase to a thought that he was fed. This was only during the speech--it didn't look like he was being fed answers during the Q&A's afterwards.

Is Tony Blair just another puppet like Bush? Is everything orchestrated? Who is behind the curtain?

3. I think Blair uses pauses for dramatic effect

whereas Bush uses them because he's slow.

7. Bush uses pauses because he gets lost in thought...

...and give Junior a break--when he's lost in thought--it's uncharted territory for him.

We must give him at least three hours to find his way back.

4. Give the man a break...

I kind of doubt that he's got a lot of sleep over the last 48 hours. He's probably being extra careful about what he says. I presume that he's getting a lot more detailed reports on the attacks than we're getting from CNN, etc. Therefore, it would make sense that some of it can't be said publicly yet. So I say give Blair a break. The stress, fatigue, and general problems of leading a country at a time like this would give anyone an off look. I would almost hope that he'd be a little out of it and need a bit of help. Then I'm more sure he's doing his job.

Bush, on the other hand, gets stressed out and tired simply by say...eating a pretzel or taking a bike ride so don't give him any slack.

I even mentioned to my hubby that blair was beginning to sound like dubya, and even tends to use his hands the same some of the time. He has begun to WALK like dubya too. My hubby calls blair "me too tony" cause everything dubya says, blair tends to say, yes, me too!

If you have a chance, review the last press conference blair gave in DC about the DSM (I think), he was using similar pauses and phrases (although he hasn't mispronounced words or said um, a, um, um like dubya).

His mind is most likely racing in a thousand different directions right now. It doesn't surprise me that he's a little flustered. On the other hand, the chimp stammers his speech all the time.

gazing down= shame
gaze to side= guilt
wandering= disinterested, bored
