White House Disinformation Session, 9/25/03---ScottyBoy's in over his head

Finally, more than one or two reporters are starting to ask some pointed questions...I think they know that Scotty-boy isn't the Baghdad Bob that Ari the Asshat was, and it's just so painfully obvious that he's not up for the job of cleaning up the mess that Ari left behind for him.

a question so obvious to the rest of us was asked of scottyboy:

Q Let me follow up on that, Scott. The President has said that since the war, America is safer. And not just America, but our allies are safer, as well, because Saddam Hussein will never be able to use weapons of mass destruction.

MR. McCLELLAN: That's right.

Q Well, if you can --

MR. McCLELLAN: Or give those weapons of mass destruction to terrorists.

Q Precisely. So if it -- if you are unable to account for Saddam Hussein or for the weapons of mass destruction or the materials of mass destruction, how can you make such a claim?

MR. McCLELLAN: His brutal regime has been removed from power. We have captured or killed many of the deck of 55 that is often referred to. So we are continuing to go on the offensive and pursue remnants of the former regime, as well as foreign terrorists, and we are bringing those people to justice.

2. A magic 8 ball could do as well at a fraction of the cost....

Why even pretend they need a press secretary?
There'd be no discernible difference in content, responsiveness, or credibility.

3. it almost makes you wish Ari were back.....

at least ari seemed to genuinely believe his bullshit.

scotty doesn't seem all that into it. it's like ari was professor emeritus of the art of lying, and scotty is his lowly T.A. left behind to cover class for Ari, and the students know he doesn't know his stuff.

excerpt:

Mokhiber: Second question, Attorney General Ashcroft is not speaking with print reporters. Does the President agree with that policy?

Scott McClellan: I don't know what his individual policy is. The Attorney General --

Mokhiber: He's not speaking with print reporters.

Scott McClellan: The Attorney General has been out --

Mokhiber: -- he's just talking with TV --

Scott McClellan: The Attorney General has been out talking about some important priorities of this administration and he will continue to do that. I haven't heard --

Mokhiber: He's not talking to print reporters.

Scott McClellan: Talk to the Attorney General.

Mokhiber: He won't talk to a print reporter. (Laughter.)

8. I bet Scott adopts a similar policy pretty soon...
Looks like he's getting burned real bad, he'll want to head back to his TV and watch Faux News for a while just to re-orient himself.

Ari would have done a much cleverer misdirect, you can tell Scott's a noob.

Mokhiber: He's not talking to print reporters.

Ari: I'll talk to the Attorney General, see what his take is, and maybe get back to you. Next question?

Rumsfeld would have been far more blunt, of course.

Mokhiber: He's not talking to print reporters.

Rummy: And why should he? You print reporters are a bunch of parasitic hacks who justify clinging to outdated media technologies by trying to make this administration look bad. Now get out of my way, dammit!

Scott needs to bone up on these important techniques.
